I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and i've been taking folic acid only. My GP recommends I take pregnacare for the rest of my pregnancy and I know there's a few types. Don't know which is the best. Any suggestions?

Don't waste your money on pregnacare; if you want to take them the unbranded supermarket own pregnancy ones will do the same for a fraction of the cost.

I'm on pregnacare but only because of asda 3 for £10 thought that's was pretty decent then got a week of free sample in my bounty- does cause constipation when first taking though!

I take the seven seas ones. They are always on offer at the supermarkets.

I'm 18 weeks and take boots own folic acid and vitamin D. The midwife said vit D is the important one to take, as long as I have a decent diet.

I'm taking pregnacare folic acid plus vit D and the omega 3 capsules. I've got boxes & boxes of the stuff after a 3 for 2 offer though.

Midwife gave me a supply of folic acid and vit D at my booking appointment & said I'd get more at 13 week scan - I'm in Scotland though. I don't know if it's a new thing or not? Will prob switch to that once the pregnacare runs out.

I'm taking santaogen mum to be. I struggled with pregnacare and it played havoc on by bowels Shock sorry for tmi!

I started on pregnacare then moved onto pregnacare max - they are expensive but they are 3 for 2 at boots at the moment. No problems with them and iron levels etc have all been great but my god the omega 3 ones make me retch when I swallow them!

Focusfocus · 07/06/2015 21:09

I took Zita West first trimester supplement plus Omgea 3 for the first trimester.

From second trimester have moved to Pregnacare Max which includes omega 3 and calcium. I also have an additional higher dose vitamin D as I am brown skinned and born and bred in the tropics, and have absolutely no capacity to absorb vitamin D from sunlight in the UK and this part of the world.

Overall, trying to eat 4 portions of calcium rich foods a day, plus the Vit d and calcium from supplements as those two are absolutely key second and third trimesters.

Folic acid until 12 weeks, then nothing. Can't take supplemental iron.

Apologies for the slight hijack, but if anyone knows of an iron free pregnancy multivitamin I'd be very grateful to know!
