New blackout curtains smell

Hi, on Tuesday I hung up some new blackout curtains in my bedroom. I've noticed a strange smell coming from them, a sort of stuffy smell like old socks! I googled it and it seems this is a common issue with blackout curtains and its to do with the chemicals used on the blackout lining. I haven't felt unwell as a result, but I'm worried now in case it's harmful to breathe in during pregnancy (I'm almost 37 weeks).

I wondered if anyone else has had this issue and whether it's best to have the curtains dry-cleaned to get rid of the smell or whether the smell will fade by itself?

Many thanks, Sarah

The smell will fade by itself. Dry cleaning will just add nasty chemicals. It's summer (ish) now, sleep with the windows open.

Congrats and good luck.

We've just had a new carpet put in our bedroom which smells like fish, apparently it will fade by itself but it's bloody awful
