Has anyone ever had having there placenta at the from of their tummy?
If so when did u feel movement?
Did it move (my friends moved as she grew)
And how did it affect you pregnancy and birth ?

I am in the same boat as you in as much as I have an anterior placenta (it sits at the front).

I am 20 weeks and 3 days and I am delighted to say I have been feeling movement every day for a week now. I am very slender, so I'm not sure if that helped when feeling movement early or not at all!!! My baby is also sitting very low down in my pelvis so that's where I feel all my moment.

I had originally been advised I may feel nothing until 24 weeks which I found a little upsetting (hence bought a Doppler). I was delighted to feel movement earlier.

I was originally told about the position of my placenta at my 12 week scan. The consultant told me at my 20 week scan that it hadn't moved and was unlikely to move now so perhaps the risk of placenta movement is taken on an individual basis?

Yes. I did. Didn't feel anything till well after the 20wk scan. 24wks I think but after that he kicked me crazy :)

Hi artisanroast how do you feel about it, I'm only 14 weeks and found out as last week I was in hospital and had MRIscans done so they cconstantlyscanned to checkbaby and they told me then. Yeah its the not feeling movement until later that cinconcerns me and the possibility of having a section scares me I has major disc problems and scoliosis on top of it and they have said an epidural is impossible as there is nowhere in my spine to enter so don't want a general anaestethic section. Let's hope our placentas move x

I've had placenta at front for both my dcs. Felt first at 15 weeks, second (currently pg) at 18 weeks. Am now 35 weeks and very glad to have a little cushioning as he is beating the hell out of me!

So yes, definitely feeling movement

I'm pregnant with my 9th and as far as I'm aware apart from this pregnancy where I have a posterior placenta all my others were anterior placentas. I used to feel kicks etc from around 18-20 weeks. It feels so different having a posterior placenta!

Were they directly at front of front but slightly to the side? Was your births normal ?

I had an anterior placenta. First luck not felt until 24 weeks.

I had an anterior placenta and felt nothing. Had my 20 week scan last week and my placenta has moved, it's now posterior and I've just started to feel movement. It's like bubbles right now. Don't panic.

Totally normal birth. Water birth in a MLU.

I didn't feel movement until after 20 weeks. I don't think an anterior placenta makes it more likely that you'd need a c-section. My birth was straightforward, in an MLU with just gas and air.

I felt nothing until quite late, and then only if she kicked really really hard. Birth was totally normal.

I'm not sure of the exact positioning of mine but was never told that they were in a funny place or anything and I've had 8 previous NVD with no complications. Apart from having placental abruption at 37 weeks with the last one but that's more due to me having a large family than the positioning of the placenta. My womb is 'knackered' as I got told by a Dr yesterday! I can't say wether mine moved or not in previous pregnancys as I honestly don't know.

I'm coming up 25 weeks with an anterior placenta. Felt some initial "pops" around 17 weeks then went a bit quiet til the last couple of weeks and I can now feel him quite strongly although still more "muted" then my first where I had an posterior placenta. My baby is also lying quite far back right up against my back.

I'm under the consultant for other reasons and an anterior placenta hasnt been mentioned as being an issue. I think it's only likely to cause an issue of the placenta is low down covering your cervix.

The Dr said its more than likely a section would be need it it doesn't move. I'm not too worried at the minute as I'm only 14 weeks now so have a while to go and it might move just don't want a section if avoidable. My birth is so restricted already not allowed water birth not allowed epidural ect and the list of NOT ALLOWWED is getting bigger and I just feel like I am having no control over my pregnancy even at this early stage x

Is your placenta also covering your cervix?

An anterior placenta would not necessitate a CS. If your dr is talking about hoping the placenta will move and checking it at the 20 weeks scan, I suspect the problem isn't that your placenta is anterior (at the front) as this is completely normal. It must be low down too which is known as placenta previa. This is a problem as too close to the cervix or covering the cervix and it means vaginal delivery is difficult or impossible. It often moves up as the womb grows larger. In fact, it usually moves up.

I had an anterior placenta with my first and felt movements from 17 weeks. I felt as much as I did with a posterior placenta (at the back).

I'm not sure ya see it wasn't an indepth scan I was in hospital getting brain scans done and all sorts for five days so they kept checking baby and then they showed me my placenta and said they will tell me more at my 20 weeks scan so I know very little atm xx

I had a anterior placenta DS is now 10months.

In all honesty I couldn't feel much movement. I felt some, more the summersaulting or a strong jab but nothing major. I went to hospital about 6times for reduced movement as I just couldn't feel him, the midwives were really understanding and always said it's fine, we understand.

Delivery I had a normal vaginal birth, no issues whatsoever.

Pregnancy wise it affected nothing else. Movement was the main issue. he still had patterns of movement but I couldn't always feel him.

Mummy, from what you've said it sounds like there may be issues other than the placenta positioning? Why is the water birth and epidural not allowed? I'm 20 weeks and have felt nothing yet, just found out at 20 week scan yesterday that I have an anterior placenta, which explains why I haven't felt anything. I obviously have more time to go before finalising plans for the birth, but up to this point it seems I can choose whichever method I want.

I agree it sounds like perhaps the placenta is more low lying than anterior being the issue. I had an anterior (high) placenta in my first pregnancy and felt movement around 20/21 weeks but only slight. It caused no issues with delivery, had a normal vaginal birth. Hope you get more answers soon!

Not allowed a water birth because I'm high risk as that was the first question I asked when they told me my pregnancy was highrisk and not allowed and epidural due to severe damage in my spine I have prolapsed discs and scoliosis and they said there would be nowhere for them to safely enter. X

I have an anterior placenta, first felt movement at 16 weeks, and then regularly from 18 weeks. She's a busy wee baby and my carrying a bit of extra weight didn't stop me feeling her.

What I will say is even though you may not feel any movement, it might be worth just watching your belly as you get further on. I'm 33 weeks and feel plenty of movement but there are also times where my belly is shaking and rolling with her movements but I can't feel a thing.
