Being induced at 39 weeks

I'm being induced next week at 39 weeks due to high blood pressure. I'm excited but apprehensive too, mainly about how long the process could take. Baby's head has been pretty well engaged for approx four weeks, is this likely to make things get going reasonably quickly with the first pessary or does it make no difference? I've also been getting strong braxton hicks and increased discharge for past week but no mucus plug that I'm aware of. Anyone else been induced from a similar point and have reassurance/advice? I want to avoid an epidural if poss and have a natural-ish active birth but no idea how realistic this is although I've been told I'll be able to use the mobile monitoring thing rather than being strapped down, so that's good.

Oh and it's my first baby, in case you couldn't tell!

Oooh I think I'm in a similar position to you! High blood pressure and protein in urine mean another hospital check on Monday and if they're still concerned then they will probably induce. I'm week 38 + 3. Kind of just want to know what is happening, hate this waiting. I am also wanting a natural birth and had wanted to avoid induction but if it's best for baby's and my health, then let's get this party started! So, no advice to offer but just to say I am in the same boat xx

I was 39 weeks with dd1 and induction was really slow. Established labour (from 5cm) was 17 hrs 52 but took 3 days to have her in my arms, was fully engaged etc so mine isn't the best story, can't remember everything but know I had the pessary twice, a drip in my hand and they broke my waters at 3cm which they said isn't really protocol. Was 11 years ago so could have changed
