Cramping = mc?

Hi, I'm about 6 weeks with dc3 and just before lunch I got awful abdominal pains, upset stomach, almost sick, and I was crying with the pain. I became very pale and sweaty, it lasted just over an hour and I had to leave work. I'm trying to work out if it was some kind of food poisoning or an mc? I assumed it was an mc but my mother who used to suffer from recurrent miscarriages (I was a clomid baby myself) told me the bleeding would have started by now (the cramps started about 4 hours ago). Has anyone had an mc with severe cramping but no bleeding? I plan to make a Drs appointment tomorrow to try to get an hcg test but I guess I was hoping that I might get some input on here to prepare myself.

Yes! I was told it was just my uterus stretching. I had it with both pregnancies and no mc. Fingers crossed for you.

I had alot of cramping during early pregnancy which went away for a few weeks about 11 weeks and came back about 16. I had a missed miscarriage last year so was on eggs shells during the first 12 weeks this time and my midwife said that generally cramps with no bleeding is nothing to worry about. I actually spotted a couple times during the first 8 weeks or so but am now almost 18 weeks. You could always pay privately to have an early scan which may put your mind at rest which can be done after 6 weeks. Congratulations and try not to worry.

I've had a mc with no bleeding.
I've also had a healthy pregnancy with lots of cramps!
Try not to panic. Nothing to suggest that anything is wrong.

I've had cramps with every one of my four pregnancies. Two ended by 8 weeks and two very healthy babies. X

I had cramping so bad it woke me in the night and kept me awake in pain, plus heavy bleeding at about that stage. Currently 30 weeks.

It's a cause for concern but doesn't mean a definite miscarriage.

thank you all, very helpful replies- at least I know there is hope now as I had virtually none earlier. I'm not really keen on early scans as I understand what will be will be at this stage and forking out for a scan won't change anything, so I'll just stick with begging my dr for an hcg test tomorrow.

I had severe cramping between 6 and 9 weeks. I ended up visiting the EPU several times and having a couple of early scans. I was also signed off work because of the pain (when it came on, it was crippling).

Despite the bumpy start, my pregnancy has progressed without any further problems. The pain hasn't recurred since 9 weeks.

I had awful cramps with this dc (no3) much worse than my previous 2, at 1 point they thought he was ectopic. Now 32+2 and having Braxton hicks that are more painful than previous 2. I'm guessing dc3=trouble. Hope everything is ok for you x

Thank you all again - definitely it was crippling, it's difficult to believe it could be normal and I'm praying it doesn't happen again as I was not prepared for that level of pain at only 6 weeks.

Cramping is very normal, but its also normal for food that would usually be fine to give you the runs and a very upset stomach. Im not sure if its because you are far more vulnerable to something dodgy or whether its because your system is already a mess but its happened to me a few times in early pregnancy. Recently some (pasturised) mozerella within 30mins had me with sharp diarrhea pains, cramping and a few rushed trips to the toilet. I was fine after.

But general cramping and niggley pains, sometimes sharp shooting pains, are normal too from the hormones and the uterus stretching. If you have no bleeding, it all sounds totally fine.
