Maternity swimwear

Currently 12 weeks with DC1, and no sign of a bump yet. Just wondering when others found that they needed a maternity swimming costume? Will be on holiday at 18w and suspect I will be in the borderline stage between normal and maternity clothes. Don't want to be madly searching for one the week before I go away!

I am 17 weeks and bump has appeared. Why not just get a bikini then you don't need to worry about how big the bump will be! Might want to get a bikini top with a bit of room though as my bra size has gone up one!

I got a costume from blooming marvellous which fitting well right through pregnancy for swimming. On holiday though I was much more comfortable in a bikini :)

I never had maternity swimwear - normal bikini works just fine. And you don't have to worry about holding the belly in Grin

Didn't need a costume until 32 weeksweeks & even then I could probably have coed for another couple of weeks. Mother care has some on sale at the moment if you do want to buy one

I don't 'Do' bikinis normally and I unfortunately had my fair share of 'tiger stripes' even at 18 weeks as they seemed to appear in anticipation for me stretching.... before I even really had a bump. Anyway... I got a plain black maternity swimsuit from sports direct for £11.99. If you have the confidence to pull off a bikini then go for it. Might be worth getting one a size bigger to allow for boobs and belly to expand

I don't do bikinis either.. or tankinis in case they ride up! I'm 17 weeks tomorrow with a decent sized bump and found a costume from Asda the other day that fits perfectly. It actually looks like a tankini! I think its one that is supposed to be 'shapewear' or whatever its called to make you look slimmer. The top is black with white dots, with black pants (but a mesh underneath so it is a costume) and only £12! I highly recommend :)

i needed a maternity tankini by 14 weeks - not so much because of the bump but because of the boobs no longer fitting my old one! got a polkadot one in Seraphine and I love it - really flattering. Now 19 weeks and definitely need it for the bump too!

My mum just gave me her size 14 cossie. Ive just got a bump and no weight anywhere else really. I wore it when I was about 28 weeks xx

tattyteddy · 02/06/2015 20:42

I got one from Jojo Maman Bebe and it's lovely.

FeelTheNoise · 02/06/2015 20:45

I just wore bikinis on holiday. I bought tie up ones so they're adjustable, and should be good for next year

FeelTheNoise · 02/06/2015 20:46

And enjoy your holiday Smile I went away at 24 weeks and loved it!

Fanby · 02/06/2015 21:49

I stuck to bikini's on holiday at 26 weeks - I also bought a plain black tankini maternity top from Topshop which was really comfy!

Enjoy your holibobs!

MummyPiggy87 · 02/06/2015 23:50

I also have tiger stripes from 1st dc, so I also went with the black maternity swimsuit in sports direct, I've just started wearing it at 15 weeks and it doesn't look "baggy" fits quite snug really!

londonliv · 03/06/2015 10:32

I was about 19 weeks when I needed one - more because the bump made the front come down to almost boob flasher levels Grin. I only bought mine as I swim quite regularly - for lazing on the beach I would prob have just stuck to a bikini though! That said I paid about £12 for mine in a mothercare sale...
