Coming up to 12 week scan. Work has said partner can't attend as due to early preg complications there have already been 2 scans that he has attended and staff handbook and Gov site say only right to 2 antenatal scans. He obv wants to come to this. It would be unpaid (as were prev) and he has already arranged cover (shift work). Have tried changing it but hosp said no. Could work give him disciplinary procedures for this or is there some other kind of leave this comes under. - assume 2 antenatal scans is cited as that is the norm but if there are problems how does this help?

If he has arranged cover, then he should go back and explain about your complications and tell them who is going to cover. Can he offer to do an extra shift to compensate?

Unfortunately i dont think they have to agree to giving him time off.
