I'm 38 weeks and recently had confirmation of both. I'm feeling very sorry for myself as this is my first (only) pregnancy and i was hoping for a positive birth experience but now have all this to worry about. I also will be induced if baby is late and guaranteed hospital time after birth (and I really hate hospitals!) I will always put my baby's health needs first and know what has to be has to be but I'm gutted that it's become so complicated. Has anyone else been in this position?

I don't have GD but I have been diagnosed with GBS and am on labetalol for raised BP (I'm 37+3), so I've had to give up all notions of a non-medicalised birth too. It sucks :(

OTOH, if I can't have the nice water birth I wanted, I'm going to make good use of all the stronger drugs I can lay my hot little hands on! Hopefully that will make the experience as positive as it can be.

Also, just mentioned on another thread - I'm looking into getting a private room if I'm going to be in hospital for monitoring for 48 hours post-birth, could be an option to make things a little easier for you too? It's really all about negotiating a compromise for me atm. Hope it all works out for you!
