dip in chest at 20 week scan

I had my 20 week scan this week and the ultrasound showed a slight dip in the shape of the chest, where is joins the stomach. The sonographer was not sure whether it was to be concerned about or not because all other measurements were find and the organs all looked good, so I am going back next week to be scanned again by a consultant.

I just wondered if anybody had had experience of this or anything similar to share? I'm not sure that to make of it.

My brother was born with a concave sternum. It went in over an inch.

At five he had surgery to insert a bar to straighten it which was later removed. He has some minor scarring.

This was 34 years ago and the only impact on his life has been the advice to avoid contact sports like rugby, boxing and martial arts. All other sports are fine.

thanks coolaschmoola , that sound similar to other things I found on Google. I can't any instances of it being picked up on an ultrasound though, it seems to be mostly diagnosed in babies and small children.

They didn't scan when my mum was pregnant, so maybe they would have seen db's - it was very pronounced. I loved it as a kid, we used to pretend it was a swimming pool for the Fisher Price people when we were in the bath .
