Sharp Lower Abdominal Pain - 37 weeks

Hello,

I am 37 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing sharp lower abdominal pain ocer the past 24 - 48 hours. It is usually when I stand up and last for seconds.

Is this just ligaments stretching or the baby's head engaging or should I call my midwife?

Many thanks for any advice.

SH

hi i am 28 weeks and had the same thing this morning was wondering if it was the babys head moving down maybe someone else has an idea.

everything is stretching and accomodating the growing baby...at 37 weeks, it is likely the head is engaging..although that can be a feeling of pressure...unlikely to be engaging at 28 weeks..although both of my babies turned and went head down at 28 weeks...and stayed there..which was uncomfortable. more likely to be ligaments etc...

any sharp stabbing pains that are continuous and accompanied by loss of blood or fluid must be investigated......

however.... if you are concerned and don't 'feel' right..no harm calling the midwife for some reassurance.....

usually, just one of those pregnancy niggles.....!
