33 weeks big baby, bring section forward?

Ive just totally had enough now I'm 33 weeks with a one & four year old boys to juggle. Midwife last week said the baby was measuring 3 weeks bigger so 36 weeks. I have never been this big I'm just fucking massive all over im bigger now than I was at full term with both my other boys. Just finding everything so difficult now like house work etc I'm exhausted from running around with the kids also. Suffering from awful pain on my pelvis that the midwife just shrugged off. I'm due to go in for an csection at 39 weeks, does anyone know if they would bring it forward if the baby is measuring big? Been cleared of diabetes too.

Not sure how it works on being so big ... But they brought my c section forward to 38+2 because of the state of my mental health. I was a mess and they knew I couldn't go on like that. I have heard that they can bring forward In regards to pelvic pain if it's so bad you can barely function. Good luck x

No, and I wouldn't recommend it either.

I had my c-section at 38 weeks exactly, DD had prolonged jaundice and an issue with an underdeveloped stomach valve. For the sake of a week, hang on in there.

FYI currently 32+2 with DC3, booked in for a section at 39 weeks and have measured up to 3cm bigger at some appointments. I am having regular growth scans which show that the baby is NOT big, so be wary of the stomach measurements.

I'm not sure how early you mean but I wouldn't to be honest. Measurements are often wrong. I was told my first was 'normal' size wise, about 8lbs but he was born at almost 10lbs. It happened in reverse with my second. My Dr said he should really stop telling people what the weight was likely to be as its very rarely completely accurate. I know it's tough when you are so uncomfortable and you've other kids to look after but for the baby's sake and your own I wouldn't push for a much earlier date than the one you have unless there was a clear medical read on for it.

My experience is different. My baby girl was born at 38+2 and was perfectly healthy and beautiful.

It may well be, but doesn't mean it will work out well for everyone.

Always best to keep them in for as long as possible.

I wouldn't recommend it either unless you or the baby have serious health issues. A lot happens in the last few weeks and it'll be easier for feeding, jaundice, shorter hospital stay, baby's iron levels, you won't need steroids for breathing, etc if you are as close to term as possible.
A lot of people think weight is more important than gestation (I had a 'big' preemie), trust me, gestation is most important if you can get there. Have a look at the 'healthy babies are worth the wait' campaign on march of dimes

Yes but Halle you had a health issue which made the risk worth it, as did I. I'm happy your DC is perfect, meanwhile I'm checking my DS's iron, booking appointments about his breathing, iron, he still doesn't roll, sit unsupported etc and I was just 6 days off term. If there's a medical reason fair enough, but if not I personally would love to go to full term

The baby may not be big. Measurements are notoriously inaccurate. I was told ds was measuring very big. He was 6lbs when born and I just had excess water.

They are unlikely to bring the date forward tbh. Is there anybody to help you?

Just because you are measuring big it could just mean your carrying lots of water..........the baby could be normal size

I had to plead with my consultant to have 39 weeks and not 38 this time!

Don't want to go through the same thing again.

(i'm secretly pushing for 39+4)

That's true number 3.... But then there's no evidence that IF born with problems that it was due to coming a week early. Could still have the same problems regardless. OP how early were you wanting to have baby? They wanted to give me my section exactly on my 39th week. That would have been a Tuesday. I couldn't bare the thought of another weekend of feeling like I was so I asked if I could have it tbe thursday (up here they only do c sections Monday to Thursday) my doctor agreed and nobody felt that waiting 5 days woud make any difference to baby. My DS was born nearly a month early by EMCS and he was under 5 Ibs and didn't need any extra care. He was healthy just small for dates. But I agree that everyone is different xx

Number3 I've not seen the consultant yet but will be doing the same as you as they've put my dates forward which I know is wrong, so I'm going to ask for a minimum of 39+3 (if I have a normal placenta this time)

No, of course they won't. "Big", even if it genuinely is, doesn't mean fully developed.

Abbey same here, I know I ovulated a week late (had progesterone tests!) and they won't have any of it, was the same with one of my other children who I am sure was born at 37 and not 38 according to them.

Not willing to risk it this time, but can't go too late as I also went in to labour at 39+5 with DC1!

Sorry Halle but there's loads of evidence, that's why c sections are booked for 39 weeks. Just have a look in NICU and SCBU and the gestations of the babies. The brain of a 35 weeker is 2/3 the size of a 39 weeker. Jaundice rates are higher. Many hospitals give steroids for the baby's lungs for earlier sections. I could go on for pages. Have a look on Tommy's, Bliss, the premature board on here, March of Dimes, NHS...

layala definately push for help where you can get it!
Try and take time for yourself and it will make the whole thing so much easier.

I totally sympathise, being a couple of days behind you and also having other children, it is not easy, I also work full time and have a spinal fusion and SPD thrown in to the mix, but an extra week could make all the difference.

Beg steal and borrow help is my new motivations

As other have said, they wouldn't bring it forward by much, this is be a use the baby's lungs will not be sufficiently developed even if he is a big baby. As such he may struggle to breathe and will be prone to respiratory infections if born early. They will only do so if the life of the mother or baby are at stake and the baby woukd be admitted to special care as a prem baby.

They might bring it forward by a week but the research is that babies do better with every week they are inside in an otherwise normal pregnancy.

You do have my sympathy though and I can quite understand why you e had enough.

I used to be a midwife and I wouldn't be shrugging off the awful pain in your pelvis. Has anyone suggested referral to a physio for assessment?

'Big' doesn't mean 'ready to be born'.

Before 37 weeks is still premature regardless of size.

And I'm sure I've read stats that babies born at 37/38 weeks have slightly worse outcomes than those born at 40 weeks.

Sorry if ive upset anyone. I'm only speaking from my personal expereince. My section was planned for 38+2 and doctor and MW said they seen no reason how or why 5 days (which would take me to 39 weeks) would make much, if any difference at all and luckily they were right. But I'm not an expert and I would hate to give wrong advice on here and risk anyone. My doctor did want to wait until exactly 39 weeks but I was so distraught it was affecting my MH badly so it was a risk worth taking for me. Xx

When i was pregnant with twins I measured 44 weeks at 32 weeks. Carrying a bump around that size for weeks was extremely tough going. Even with twins my section date was for 38+0. Babies plus placentas came out totalling 17lbs!

Keep going, every week you get through is best for the baby.

I measured big with dc3 and dc4. With dc4 I was measuring 50cms at 38 weeks! I was being closely monitored because dc3 was 10lb 8. Even then they wouldn't induce me until 3 days after my due dat and that was after a lot of sobbing on my part.
Anyway turned out that I didn't need it because he was born on his due date weighing a very petite 8lb 10.
I wonder if you measure a bit bigger after a couple of babies because everything is already a bit more stretchy? Not sure if that's a medical fact but a few friends have been bigger with dc3/4.
