Hello all, is it just me or is anyone else on the same boat.. It's my first. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and probably get a sweep done - curious to know what it feels like? Is it painful etc.. I feel no pain, sleeping like a baby at night (not that I'm complaining) I go for my walks, eat spicy curries, bounce like a crazy lady on the birthing ball.. Feel good overall but I feel fed up at the same time.. Jus want to meet my baba.

I was 40 plus 9 and he was born on the date of induction. Sweep hurt a bit but didn't do anything. I look back on that time and little did I know what I know now. I was in for the most amazing experience. You are so close (but it seems so far away).

Good luck op. Enjoy your time. You could have days to go... Or you could have hours. I used to walk round the shops for hours. I still have a receipt for the day before the birth with what we had for tea.

Without doubt it was the best day of my life. I am so excited for you. Flowers

Arh honey I have been here. My first sweep was nothing I was like are you done, my second hurt like hell and my ds was here less than 24 hours later.

Good luck as pp said it will be an amazing day, painful at first but meeting your baby will make you forget about that. I have about 27 weeks to wait think how far you have come a few more days won't hurt. Bank in some rest now.

Good luck good luck good luck.

I had a sweep, at 40+2, just felt like someone was having a bit of a rummage down there, little was I to know that this was to become a very familiar feeling!

I had a second 5 days later, that was a bit more uncomfortable but nothing I couldn't get through without a sharp intake of breath. It didn't last long but I was surprised at how 'vigorous' the MW was!

My little girl was born at 40+9, I'd repeat to enjoy this golden time. Your baby will come and it will be all of the things, but this time is special; it's your last chance to be just you with your baby inside you. Good luck, I'll be doing it again soon!

Love your post ^

Agree with 'vigorous'

I described my mw as attempting to climb in. Grin

Thanks guys.. I don't feel like I'm the only one Haha.. I'm going to relax and go with the flow.. Can't really force it out.. Smile After reading your sweep comments I now know what to expect

I had one today, my best piece of advice is to chat to the midwife while she is doing it, helps to distract you and keeps you relaxed. It will all depend on how favourable the cervix is, it's a little uncomfortable and produces a very dull kind of ache, but was bearable, I just kept talking :)

Fingers crossed for you

I had my sweep and it was painful as well as unsuccessful.. The midwife couldn't reach the baby's head.. My cervix was apparently too long. I was gutted.. After the sweep I had the 'show' however I think I'm showing way to much and quite paranoid.. It's pinkish but I feel like it's blood.. Should I contact my midwife.. Unsure

Yes let your midwife know. Or I'd ring the maternity ward for advice? Sending you all good wishes.

I had quite a lot of watery bloody discharge straight after mine, was surprised. Happened whilst there, and the midwife said it was normal. Just had more browny coloured since.

Contact your out of hours midwife though to make sure.

na5ima · 01/06/2015 16:28

It was normal.. So I was a little less stressed out..

I am now 41 weeks and still no signs.. Started getting some pains but they went and havnt come back since.. I have my sec sweep hop that helps and I hop I don't get induced on Saturday
