Hi, I think i am around 4 weeks pregnant and have a blood test booked for tomorrow to confirm. Is it normal to keep getting period pain like cramps? I've had no bleeding.

Hi! Congratulations, and good luck for tomorrow. Period-type pains are completely normal during pregnancy, it's the womb and surrounding muscles stretching ready to accommodate a baby. It took me by surprise tbh, and lasted nearly 2 weeks after period was due. I know some women get them throughout pregnancy, some have no cramping at all. As long as they are not accompanied by bleeding, it's nothing to worry about. Just be careful about taking painkillers, paracetamol are considered safe, but don't overdo it, and if you need a hot water bottle for the pain, don't use a really hot one as it will apply direct heat to the womb which could be dangerous.

Thank you!
I'm hoping it doesn't last much longer as its really bad, and I've just made the mistake of taken ibruprofen thinking I'd read the label and not seen any warning then reread it and it said to not take Sad
I think I will invest in a hot water bottle later, thank you for the advice Smile

I had cramping every day until about 11 weeks. It's very annoying but I only now get the occasional round ligament pain and I'm 23 weeks.

Congratulations on your news :)

Thank you Smile and congratulations too.
Cramps have been OK for the last couple of days so fingers crossed that was the worst of it!
