i will be bottle feeding baby when he arrives . I've no idea which bottles, teats or formula to use and would like to start buying. Has anyone any advice or info on the best bottles and teats to buy ?

I used MAM bottles. The teats are silk and flat and bottles can be unassembled into two parts for through cleaning (BPA free too). I recommend them to everyone Smile

I'll do that. I have no idea about these things. Do you start with slow flow teats? And I'm assuming only baby will be able to tell which one he likes.

Every baby is different. DS was happy with Avent bottles and Hipp organic; DD had Dr Brown's bottles and Cow&Gate.

Chose something familiar/easy to get hold of/ that you can get in your corner shop, and take it from there.

My DT's would only tolerate NUK teats. They helped with colic.

I'm the same. No clue. But I bought a Dr brown starter pack plus a mam bottle.

I also got the perfect prep machine. Cos I have heard fabulous things about it.

I'm going with hipp organic but have only bought 2 boxes so far (incase baby doesn't agree with it)

I still feel totally clueless though!

Also get a tommy tippee perfect prep machine for an easy life. You can use any bottles!

I've used avent bottles with all 3 dc and aptamil formula all have been fine. I've had a couple of MAM bottles this time too they seem good. A perfect prep machine is ace well worth the money and you can use any type bottle with it.

I honestly think any bottle will do! Babies are very fussy whether breast or bottle fed, spitting out teats, crying between gulps, fussing and kicking (some do, some don't). I think if they do it with one bottle they would do it with another. Its just a normal part of their first months as they have incompetent digestive systems. The different bottles and magic feeding systems are all just marketing playing on nervous parents, I worked for a similar industry in marketing for years so know what bullshit and 'R&D' goes into these 'innovations'. Get an easy to wash one (without loads of inserts and tricky plastic bits that get all gross and take extra time) and stick with it. Baby will get used to anything. Oh, I would recommend glass bottles though, no plastic chemicals getting blasted with microwave heat daily for 4 mins or more. They are lovely to clean and theoretically much healthier for your baby. Ive never had a breakage and my baby could hold it herself from 3 months despite it being a good bit heavier than plastic ones.
