5-6 Weeks preg. How do you keep patient!!

Hi All, this is my first pregnancy and first post! i found out last week! All i know is that it is a nightmare finding out this early and keeping it to myself. i'm far to scared that i might jinx it and something will go wrong if i tell people as its so early! Any tips on how not to panic and stay calm!!

Congratulations! Ha i wish i knew, seriously!!! I felt like the days were going soooooo slow when i found out i was pregnant at 5 weeks. Keep yourself busy, that is all i can say! I am 40+2 today and i can tell you that my patience is well and truly gone haha!

It's very exciting isn't it!
I've never been one to follow the not telling anyone before the 12 week mark. As actually if things do go wrong, you'll want the support of people who know around you.
I've been unfortunate and lost babies in the first trimester, but was thankful I'd confused in a few close friends abd family in the early weejs do they were there to support me.
Tell you you feel you want to know. Early pregnancy can be a worrying and lonely time.
I've never been a fan of scan photos on facebook or any sort of social media a movement. But if that's your thing it is probably best to wait a while longer, as that's a much wider message you're sending.

Congratulations! I don't have an answer to your question, I'm afraid; I found out ridiculously early, and had to keep it quiet for nearly two months, including through two family events. How I didn't go mad I'll never know...

The only thing that sort of worked was trying to see the 'having to keep it quiet' thing as a lovely, intimate secret between DH and me, to be excited that there was this tiny little life that only two people (and a few medical professionals but we won't count them ) knew about. I was still bursting to tell people but it did give me a little frisson of glee now and a again!

OpheliaBitz, Yeah i am enjoying the secret a little! But i feel like i need all of his time bless him!! Being on here has totally opened my eyes! So exciting to have people to talk freely to!!

Hi Kate, congratulations!

I'm exactly like you in terms of waiting out of fear to jinx it, and my fiancé is ever worse! I'm 14 weeks and he only just told his family (was waiting for the scan etc). As for me, I'm very close to my mum, and she was the second person to know right after I've got my BFP. And I think this is what helped me to keep patient, is that I could call her anytime and chat about being pregnant and baby and my fears and everything for hours on end! No jinx possible with mum (or dad/sister/very close family member). So maybe it is something that you could consider? It gives you at least someone close to talk to and pass the time. Otherwise, don't worry it will fly! I can't believe I'm 14 weeks already, seems like I only saw that BFP yesterday!

Hey congratulations, I found out at 4 weeks! And I thought the same back then, I'm now 14 weeks and time has actually flown by! I told my sister,mum and dad and my dh parents straight away, I also worried about it be to early but then thought sod it! At the end of the day, if the worst is going to happen they'll find out anyway? So I don't really see the need in people hiding it. I told my friends just as and when I saw them really x

Hi I found out at 4 weeks and told my mum and sisters who I'm very close too. Everyone else was told after 12 weeks scan - I'm yet to tell work but planing to do that in couple of weeks due to risk assessment and I feel like I'm starting to show . It's hard to keep it in especially if it's your first child ( I'm on same boat) but just go day by day and not think about it too much .

Hi Kate. Congrats to you! I also got my BFP last week and am now 5+1 (I think).

My OH obviously knows and we have told our parents but that's it.

My plan is to have a few early scans to break up the time and to check the progress of how my little one is growing. I had a mmc in December so anxious to how things are doing/growing.

First scan will be around the 7 week mark, booking appt is at 8 weeks, I'll have another scan at 10 weeks then booking scan at 12 weeks. That way I'm only having to wait a few weeks each time until the next appointment.

What is your due date?

Congratulations! I absolutely ruined my early pregnancy by worrying so much, I wish I had been able to relax and enjoy it but I couldn't even talk about it as I was so terrified something would go wrong. But it didn't and here I am at 21 weeks wishing I could look back on it as an exciting time!

The only thing that kind of helped was when I gave myself a talking to and thought that if something bad was going to happen then it would so whether I looked at baby clothes online or not! Wish I could have been like my sister in law who said it never even crossed her mind that anything would go wrong.

So I don't have any advice really other than to say that if you can find a way to relax and enjoy it then definitely do - you will feel much better after your first scan

Can't tell you all how much this has helped! It's amazing having people to talk to about this without feeling too silly. Find myself thinking I can't say things as I'm so early on! Just keeping my fingers crossed that everything stays happy and healthy!

I'm in same boat to as found out day period was due so 4 weeks. I didn't know with my first DD until past 6 weeks so this feels really early. Just told close family but got ages to wait and so nervous of miscarriage... just want to get safely to 12 week scan. An eternity away!
