Hi

This is my 2nd pregnancy, first ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks last year. I'm 6+0 and after a large bowel movement (sorry for tmi) this morning I noticed pink discharge when I wiped. I haven't had any since but went to GP and he's referring me to EPU for a scan.

Looking for positive expereinces or advice? I'm so scared I'm losing another baby.

Thanks

Do you know for sure that you're 6+0? Do you absolutely know when you ovulated?

At 6 weeks when you're certain of dates, it's hard to know what you'll see. Sometimes you'll just see a sac, sometimes a fetal pole, sometimes a tiny blob with a heartbeat.

I wish I could tell you definitively but you do have to go in with a realistic expectation that you might not get any answers beyond the location of the pregnancy. Is your scan today?

Some spotting or bleeding early on is extremely common and isn't necessarily bad news.

Good luck.

No the dates are based on LMP. I have a scan at EPU tomorrow afternoon. get the feeling i'll be none the wiser after I've had it!

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're going through this worry just now. I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks last year. Got pregnant again a few weeks later and started spotting pink-brown-red-pink at 6 weeks and this spotting actually went on until week 9-10 for me. EPU could see no reason for it.

I got a scan at what I thought was 6+6 and it showed a 6mm fetus with a heartbeat, which they dated 6+2. Later scans at 8 and 12 weeks brought me back up to original dates.

As early as 6 weeks they might only see a sac and maybe fetal pole, so unfortunately you might be in suspense for another week or so until they can see more. If that is the case don't lose hope though - bleeding can be very common in early pregnancy and not always cause for alarm. I'm now 25 weeks and had no bleeding since a tiny spot if brown at 11 weeks. Touch wood!

Hope you get on ok and try to take it easy in the meantime. :)

tmi question, but are you sure the discharge wasn't from your bum, ie caused by the large bowel movement? piles and things are very common in pregnancy.

even if it was from your other bits (there is no good way to say that!), it doesn't have to mean the worst. i had a tiny bleed at 6 weeks and another at 16; thank goodness all was well. but i agree with the advice above, so that you don't drive yourself mad, best to get it checked out, and try to be realistic without panicking. i know that's hard. fingers crossed for you.

I had a little pink discharge after the loo four times so far.. At 4 weeks, 7 weeks 9 weeks and 11 weeks. I had two early scans and my usual dating scan at 12 weeks and everything was fine. They say they aren't sure what causes it but it's common and could be the uterus stretching as it does in early pregnancy. I've always had little cramps, sharps pains up the "ahem" sorry tmi. These are all things that put you on edge!! Congrats on your pregnancy, take it easy x

Thank you all for your responses. I'll try to stay as calm as possible for the next 24 hours until my scan
