Hello, I'm 6 weeks pregnant and going to a party tomorrow night. I know all the usual food related no nos but was wondering is fake tan is safe (to wear not eat!) and also if anyone had any good reasons I might not be drinking?

I'm usually with the other 20 somethings knocking back the wine so they'll guess something's up if I don't have a good excuse. I've already decided to 'be on antibiotics' for the Christmas night out so any other ideas would be much appreciated!

This is a very long awaited pregnancy and I just don't want to do anything I shouldn't.

Thank you! xx decaf

antibiotics is fine...or be the designated driver....or recovering from a hangover!!!!! or starting new year resolutions early...or you don;t feel like drinking! have a tonic water with ice & a slice so it looks like a g&t or order a coke & say it is a bacardi & coke etc......

fake tan ok as not going into your system..just on the top layers of skin......

congratulations !

Frenchsmallfry · 10/11/2006 19:28

I think fake tan is safe, have to say it's not someting I've thought about. I don't think I'd of even considered it, good for you. I'm sure it is OK. It may be like the Hair dye myth, it is perfectly safe to dye your hair in pg'cy and fake tan must be a similar thing.

I'msure someone will know for sure.

There is no reason why you couldn't be on antibiotics again, next time just say, "god I just can't shift it, so they've given me another course" OR could you be the driver? bit boring I know.

OMG!!!!!

Decaf, I cannot believe I missed this. Do you remember me? We started ttc at the same time (was kleggie back then) and I have been asking if anybody has heard from you for ages!!!

WOW! I am absolutely overjoyed for you. I'm currently 13wks pg, with bump and while I spend most of my time worrying, it's amazing to eventually be a pg person and not a TTCer.

I am so pleased for you decaf.

Hi showofhands! Yes I remember you! It's good to find someone who I recognise!

Thank you for your good wishes and congratulations to you!

DH and I sat in silence for about an hour just in total shock! I'd been feeling weird for a few days but was trying to convince myself I was imagining it so waited and waited to test but my temperatures stayed high and in the end dh cracked and got a test at tecos! It came up positive straight away and we're so excited!

I can't believe how long it is since I started that very first thread but it's certainly worth it now!

ps thanks for the help everyone! xx

I won't tell you how many tests I did . But I can tell you that you can buy 10 tests for 2 pounds (my pound sign won't work, keeps coming up as #, that's very odd!) on ebay and I spent more than #4 (where the hell is my pound sign?). It took ages for it all to sink in and we told nobody (apart from MN) until 12wks so I walked round with this little secret for ages.

It's such fab news, take it as easy as possible and enjoy this feeling.

Any symptoms yet?

decafgirl · 10/11/2006 20:01

Yeah, I felt sick before I'd even tested and my boobs were quite sore - even under the shower! My head feels like I've stood up too quickly all of the time!
The tiredness everyone talks about has only kicked in this week - I was on a PE course yesterday and was quite pathetic!

I've told my teaching assistant so she understands why I can't restrain any kids (I have some special needs in my class)or move furniture about but other than that it's a giant secret! I'm loving it!

I'm keen to have my scan and check everything's ok though. I'm so worried something's going to go wrong but I suppose that's natural right? Or am I just barking?!

I'm surprised I didn't take more tests because I still feel like a fraud! I went the the gp last week and she didn't even take my urine, she just believed me so I sat there and tried to convince her! She must have thought I was nuts! I see the midwife a week on tuesday so maybe I'll believe it's true then!

xx

Sore boobs, ooh still got them and the feeling like you've stood up too quickly, yes I know that feeling too. My worst problem was fatigue, by 7pm I was absolutely exhausted every night. I started feeling more myself at about 11wks and now I feel almost normal again.

I think worry is the main symptom of a healthy pregnancy so sounds like you are doing fine. I didn't really start to believe it was all actually happening until my dating scan and even though I saw this little person on the screen, there are still days when I can't quite believe we've done it. So is it an early July baby then?

decafgirl · 10/11/2006 20:22

OMG!

That's amazing! It's a great picture and well done you on the technical know-how to get it on here

Flump (the bump) is due on the 6th of July (or, if she's a day late, the 7th of the 7th 07) I say she but obviously I don't know xx

Thank you for helping me chill out a bit, it's nice to talk about it with someone. I can't wait to tell everyone!

Right, I'm off to fake tan my pasty northern legs while I still can!

xx

Good excuse for not drinking, say you started AA treatment.
