Hi,

Wondering if anyone can give me any advice on remedies you can take during pregnancy for cold.
I'm 14 weeks and feeling rubbish, weak, snotty, sore throat the usual. Usually I'd be taking sudafed and lemsips things like that. I've tried googling with not much help. Is it really just paracetamol? Any home remedies anyone can recommend? Thank you Smile

Paracetamol is it I'm afraid.....

Steam bath really helps to decongest. Paracetamol is ok. Hot squash with honey is good for a sore throat. I had a rotten cold at 30 weeks pg, I sympathise! Take some time out to yourself to put your feet up and look after yourself Thanks

Thank you, will try some hot squash with honey. On top of usual exhaustion on nausea still this is just the icing on the cake Bahh!

Gargle with salted water also good for sore throat - so long as it doesn't make you gag!

You can get non-medicated throat sweets too. I think Halls Soothers are ok. Just check the packet.

Yeah I might try some halls, I was gonna see if strepsils are ok too! Might pop into boots and speak to pharmacist! Thanks for all the advice Smile I'll try gargling with saltwater too, but gagging when I cough so not sure that'll be too successful ahh!!

Aldi lemon and ginger tea with a teaspoon of honey got me through! Second sitting with your head over a steam bath. It's miserable you have my sympathy! Flowers

There is a nasal spray that's suitable for pregnancy. It's supposed to help with congestion. Think it's called Sterimar (sp?) Mainly just salt water I think but worth a go. Get it in Boots. X

Thanks ladies, I'm just about starting to feel human again, luckily I've had a few days off work, hoping it doesn't linger as I've got a 3 long days at work starting tomorrow! Lemon and ginger tea with honey and Vicks have helped. Let's hope this is the one and only cold during this pregnancy!!
