During the night, last night, i think I was experiencing my first proper braxton hicks. My tummy was tightening and almost changing shape? Some of them were extremely uncomfortable but not sore. Does this sound right?

Hi weelamb123. A lot of resources suggest that BH shouldn't be uncomfortable and shouldn't be regular (less than 4 or so per hour). Well mine are damn uncomfortable, verging on painful, and a very regular - like 1 every few mins for several hours. I don't want to say yes it's defo BH, in case it's not, but what you describe sounds a lot like my BH. They say that if they stop when you change what you're doing if lying down, go for a walk etc, then it's probably BH. How far along are you? If you are in any way concerned then chat to your midwife or day assessment unit. The day assessment unit can do tests (feral fibronectin test) to see if you are in early labour. I have taken the odd paracetamol to help with mine when they've been bad and keeping me awake. Helped a little, but still struggled to sleep. I hope they don't give you too much aggro.

fetal (not feral... although I was probably verging on feral at the start of this week due to lack of sleep Grin)
