Movement at 17 weeks

I'm 17 weeks today, and a week or so ago I started feeling flutters/bubbles that I thought were wind. They've got stronger and now I'm pretty sure they are little kicks, I can even feel them with my hand! Feeling a bit downhearted as my midwife today didn't seem to believe me. She said it's very early for my first. I know it's early but it feels very different from anything else ie wind, it's quite distinctive. Plus I've been off work poorly and spent a lot of time in bed so had the opportunity to keep feeling for them.

Has anyone else had movement at this stage with their first?

I first felt little popping sensations at 16 weeks with my first. DP could feel them by just under 18 weeks.

I first felt movement with this baby at 17 weeks and today at 18+5 I felt them from the outside for the first time.

I'm 17+ 4 and I've had this since Monday night! I would ignore the midwife you know your body and it doesn't seem really early considering there's a pomegranate sized baby in there! X

I felt my first movements at 17 weeks, felt like I was being tickled from inside Smile

Mine started at 17 weeks too with my first and the same with the one carrying now.

I'm pretty sure I've felt a couple of movements...not really popping but more like a large goldfish turning over in clasped hands would feel. Like a slimy 'flollop' sort of feeling. *

That happened at 17 weeks. Still nothing regular yet but I'm reasonably sure it wasn't wind.

  • excuse my complete inability to articulate ;)

I could feel mine at 17 weeks. Little drum beats, like going to a gig/disco/party and the music's up loud and you can feel the beat through the floor. Only in my uterus, obviously.

With DS you could feel and even see him moving from 14 weeks. The midwife was sceptical until she came to checking my abdomen and there he was bouncing around.

Thankyou! That's reassuring to know, I thought I was going crazy! grantaire I love your description of a drum - that's exactly what it feels like!

I could feel mine at 12 weeks. It weren't kicks, it was more like a soft stroking inside. Turns out I could feel it if baby swiveled around, the stroking sensation was the entire body of the baby moving along the wall of my womb.

Lol skipton I too had a goldfish flolloping! Dead on 17wks I was in the bath, felt it, laid my hand on tummy and felt it laidagain and with my hand. Even though its 'far too early' to feel with your hand.

With my 1st it was around 20 weeks although I think I felt them earlier but didn't realise they were kicks and my placenta was also in the way. The midwife at the time panicked me about not having felt kicks at 16 weeks so I guess opinion differs.
With my second its been at about 14 weeks and they are very clearly kicks now at 17 weeks
Sounds like those are kicks OP!

I could feel at 16 with my first. Get a back of meal teasers and put one on your stomach then as baby moves they roll off and you can scoff them

pinkie1982 · 20/05/2015 21:42

I had definite movement from 16 weeks
