Rock hard stomach - 39 weeks?!

Any advice my stomach has pretty much turnt to stone. This happened last night and I thought it may of softened a little over night but no such luck!
It feels as if baby has moved herself up and between my ribs with her bum poking outwards.
I've had minimal pain, no tightening and no other labour type symptoms as far as im aware.. No plug etc..although whilst writing this I have now got a horrible pain in my left rib! And to top it all off I have a stinking cold!
Any idea what this could be? X

You need to call the labour ward and speak to a midwife.
Is your baby moving ok?
How do you feel in yourself?

Baby is moving as per normal she's very active and and nothing has changed there, as for me.. All ok apart from a cold and lack of sleep! Midwifes arnt ever available to speak to before at least 8:30 which is annoying
This is my first so I'm clueless! Does it sound like I should be worrying? Thanks x

Am also 39 weeks and mime has been doing this a lot more over the past week, wedges her arse and her knees up and seems to lean back into my ribs, not at all pleasant... I usually have to sit completely upright and give her a gentle nudge to get her out of my ribs or get up and walk about...

You should have an out of hours midwife contact number on the front of your notes if you want to call them. :)

Labour ward is open 24/7 and you can speak to a midwife anytime.
Sorry I have to go to work now, but please just call them.

I'm an ex-midwife. If your stomach is continually hard, rather than just getting tense with frequent braxton hicks contractions, then you need to call labour ward, or whichever phone number you've been given to contact a midwife, and speak to them about this.

Ahh I see, I will give that a try. It's weird as she hasn't really ever moved up so much!! I was just worried this could be the start and I'm not prepared at all!!!
As for my out of hours midwife number again useless always miserable and make me feel silly for calling! Will try them after 8:30 and see what they say x

Ring the labour ward. They'll probably want you to go in.

Don't let them make you feel silly for calling, I called them at the weekend cause I was unsure of something and refuse to.let them make me feel shit about it.

It's better to ask than to not, and at least it would give you peace of mind x

I had this at 40 weeks very early in the morning, called the one to one midwife, she checked heart rate etc, reassured me told me I had done the right thing and i was in full labour by tea time, never feel you shouldn't call!

Ok so it has started to soften and now I'm
Getting some tightening feelings, could be BH? I've still had no joy with a midwife as yet x

On my notes there is a number for triage and the phone line is manned 24/7. I have phoned them over trivial stuff several times now and I'm 26 weeks pregnant. The number is there if you need it and should be used no matter how silly you think the query is. They will want you to phone them if there are worries.

I am also going to say CALL YOUR LABOUR WARD. Not just the midwife number you have. I have both on my notes, but if you don't just google your hospital number and ask to be put through at the switchboard. Please please please do this.

I have had too many friends have close calls and sad tragedies to let this slide. It's not something that is typical, so go in, that's what they would want. That's their job.

I am currently 34 weeks myself, I would still get on my knees and beg you to call the labour ward.

Don't ignore it.

It was nothing to worry about! I went into labour 41+1, so not related to going into labour but it wasn't something to be concerned about

Update - husband said hard and hot can mean infection for some people though, so be aware! Get doctor to have a look 😊
