Hey folks
just thought I would see what the stats were so to speak on how accurate your first instinct re:gender was?

I'm 8 weeks and feel certain I'm having a boy.....only got another 12 weeks to go before I can find out for definite Wink

I sort of assumed girl, that's what I wanted. Then I started thinking boy, especially after the 4d scan. Then I decided I was really just clueless and would wait. However it was a girl so right first time :)

I'm also 8 weeks and I think it's a girl. I'm only waiting 8 weeks to find out the sex though, I'm too impatient to wait any longer.

Nannynome · 20/05/2015 05:51

Yes both times. I refered to the the first bump as he from fairly early on and then this one was always she, we get to meet her in 8 weeks Grin

Bluegrass · 20/05/2015 06:12

Next question of course is - of the people who were right, how many are now secretly convinced it was because of their own special magical intuition, and not down to the fact that there are only 2 possibilities and so around half of all guesses will be right!

CuppaSarah · 20/05/2015 07:28

I knew as soon as the second line came up on the test dd was a girl.

This time I have no bloody clue. My gut says girl, as I've always wanted two girls. But it's not the same certain feeling I got last time. Just waiting for mil to come down this weekend. She always knows what sex babies are. ALWAYS.

WishUponAStar88 · 20/05/2015 07:36

No, I was convinced dd was a boy all the way through pregnancy ...

plonkie · 20/05/2015 09:43

At first I thought ot would be a girl but as the pregnancy has progressed my partner and I became convinced it was a boy. Had my scan a couple of days ago and it is indeed a baby boy! My MIL was also convinced it'll be a boy! X

Number3cometome · 20/05/2015 10:53

Yes, Yes, and No!

DC1 - Yes, and correct - boy
DC2 - Yes, and correct - girl
DC3 - No, wrong, thought it was a girl, he's a little boy Grin

OneLittleManOneInOven · 20/05/2015 10:56

Yes with DS1 but currently pregnant with DD and was convinced it was a boy!

Hippymama1 · 20/05/2015 10:57

No! I thought my baby was a girl and had picked a name, outfits - everything! Turns out I am expecting a little boy! I didn't think anything of it until DH pointed out that when I had scans I was referring to the baby as 'he' and other times as 'she' so maybe I did know that he was a boy after all. Wink

WinterBabyof89 · 20/05/2015 11:00

Guessed all three of mine correctly - boy, girl, boy (my girl pregnancy was hideous - but well aware that each pg is different & not linked to sex of baby!)..

scarednoob · 20/05/2015 11:52

I thought initially it would be a girl. whilst I just want a happy healthy baby, I had to confess to a sneaking preference for a girl, I think because I lost the world's best mum a few years ago and I want to have my own little girl. but then I knew that either would be the most amazing thing ever to happen to me, and gradually convinced myself it was a boy.

found out on mon - it's a girl!!

60sname · 20/05/2015 12:09

I 'felt' girl as am one of two girls so girls are more familiar to me in the family dynamic. And based on nub theory. (Dismissed all other theories as old wives' tales)

....it's a boy Grin

Ludways · 20/05/2015 12:12

Yes, my feeling was right both times. I don't believe it was an instinct though, just lucky guesses.

Elledouble · 20/05/2015 12:14

Nope. Was sure I was having a girl, absolutely convinced, and so was nearly everyone else (apart from my partner, annoyingly!).

Then the baby was born - back to back labour, so as the midwife picked him up I could see full frontal - it was a boy!

Dansak · 20/05/2015 12:16

Yes and I dreamt at about 10 weeks it was a boy and it was confirmed at the 20 week scan.

BitchPeas · 20/05/2015 13:06

Yep both times right from peeing on a stick. I just knew, and was right.

CarrotPuff · 20/05/2015 15:30

Yes, I had a very strong feeling I was having a boy and I was.

3rdbump · 20/05/2015 15:57

baby 1 - no idea! (boy)
baby 2 - thought maybe a girl (she was!)
baby 3 - convinced was a boy (he is)

39 weeks pregnant with baby 4 - i am convinced its a girl this time!

FernGullysWoollyPully · 20/05/2015 16:01

I had no idea with Dc1, found out for fun that he was a boy. Dc2 , I just 'felt' that she was a girl and was right. Didn't find out with Dc3, didn't have any feeling, had a nice surprise when she was born. Dc4, totally wrong. Thought she was a boy. Dc5, same. Just found out she's another pinky!

Bogwoppit22 · 20/05/2015 16:03

I always thought I'd like a boy as my first as I'm a tomboy and not very girly at all. However from the moment of my BFP I naturally kept referring to my LO as "she", "her", "mrs" etc. It just felt right. Then did baking soda test and ring test, both suggested girl. Then 20w Scan said girl, and I burst into tears of happiness and am now utterly thrilled at the prospect of having a girl. 7weeks and we'll know for sure (hope the 20w scan was correct coz I even found some dresses I liked for her!).

umiaisha · 20/05/2015 16:06

Wrong all 3 times!

SolemnStollen · 20/05/2015 16:21

Nope, as wrong as it's possible to be. And I was SURE!

DimpleHands · 20/05/2015 20:38

I was sure I was having a boy and I did.

There is a study in which they questioned over 3,000 women - 73% guessed correctly!
