In so much pain

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and since 3pm have been in agony. It started in my back, like stabbing pains and then went round to my stomach. It's been hurting constantly but it keeps moving from back to stomach. I've taken paracetamol which took the edge off the pain a bit but it didn't last long.

I had a bleed in the first trimester and had over a week of cramping but it doesn't feel like that.

Dp is in work, I'm not sure what to do.

Call the labour ward and get them to check you. It's probably wind, constipation or stretching pains (the glamour of pregnancy!), but you cannot be too careful with your and your baby's health, so always better to be safe that sorry!

I was thinking constipation but I have been today after days of not being able to go. It doesn't feel like wind.

There should be a 24hr phone number on your notes (mine have always been on a sticker on it inside the cover). They really won't mind you calling to discuss with them. You've been in pain for nearly 4hrs and pain relief is not helping Hmm

I think I'm going to have to call it's not getting any better. I need to try and get hold of Dp.

Can he follow on later when you manage to contact him (get a friend or taxi to take you in if you need to get checked)?

Have to get someone to look after Ds too if I have to go in. I've spoken to Dp he will come home if I need him. I'm hoping it will go away very soon.

It seems to have eased a bit, only have a stitch type pain now on both sides. Am going to keep an eye on it, if it gets worse again I will phone.

Kidney infection?? I had one at 35 weeks, pains coming around both sides, it was coming in waves every few mins, I actually thought I was in labour!
I'd ring the hospital, they'll tell you to come in and be able to check straight

The pain gad completely gone by 8.30, very strange. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I will mention it to her.
