Does pregnancy make you want to shop?

I think I'm going slightly insane. I've never been a particularly covetous person, I like nice things from time to time but I didn't particularly splash out in my first pregnancy on stuff for the baby, or on stuff for me.

This time it's completely different. I want to buy EVERYTHING! So far in the last week I've contemplated: a Mulberry handbag (way out of my budget), A Cambridge Satchel Company handbag complete with personalised monogram (nice but completely impractical), a bright blue cashmere poncho, a necklace (flimsy and fragile), silver shoes (high, not waterproof), a Liberty scarf and some really tiny diamond earrings.

I haven't bought any of them (well, I did buy a sequinned cape last night, but everyone needs one those right?) but I want to, I really really want to.

So, what I want to know is, is this a normal reaction? Is anyone else buying completely unnecessary stuff and what in the world am I going to do with a mermaid green sequinned cape and 2 children under 2?

Welcome to my permanent world.... fortunately for you, you can blame the hormones! I am in the position where I still manically want to shop (not for baby just yet as early days) but am in super panic mode about mat pay next year which is ridiculous as planned and saved for this baby!!
Emotional imbalance makes pregnancy awesome doesn't it!!

I tend to have this problem anyway but I think it has been more acute since pregnancy. I put it down to spending money on clothes because I feel fat and money on house stuff because I'm nesting. I can't help it, it's not my fault. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

i cant stop looking at baby stuff and drive to my dps work half an hour early everyday so i can look at stuff! Smile

I think it'd make more sense to me if I was looking at baby things, but everything I want (and it's definitely want, not need) is so not-useful and not-practical.

I do completely love my sequinned cape though and plan to wear it all the time!

I'm glad I can blame pregnancy hormones, I was beginning to worry that it was sheer greed!
