Hi ladies

A few years back I developed cough piles...
They havnt bothered me in ages I have a good diet plenty of water etc... However in the last 2 weeks I'm v constipated and can feel my problem flare up again...
I'm only 6 weeks I know it's going to get worse I drink loads of water no caffeine (apart from what's in herbal teas) and plenty fruit I'm also taking pregnacare vitamin...

Any advise on how to improve my 'situation' xx

Stop the pregnacare! I can't take ANY conception or pregnancy vitamins as they all contain Iron which WILL make things worse! I took folic acid til 12wks and continue to take vitamin D.

Branflakes for breakfast every single day helps me. Large bowl of!

I second stopping the pregnacare. They didn't agree with me, I took folic acid that contained vitamin D, and then at around 14 weeks, sanatogen mum to be which had a much lower dosage of iron in, even those I could only take every other day.

My constipation remedy, half a tin or prunes, remove stones, simmer I'm water on the stove for ten mins them blend with the water, should make up about three or four small drinks. One before bed every evening was my saving grace, am now 38+5.

I took Lactulose for the last few weeks of my pregnancy. It's very sweet but a good gentle laxative.

I didn't have a problem with Pregnacare, so don't automatically assume that it's what's bunging you up! I sympathise with you as I was constipated until about 16 weeks, and recommend stewed prunes (get some prunes, add some water and simmer for 20 mins) and porridge in the mornings, plenty of water and lots of veggies like apples, grapes and carrots, which all contain the right sort of fibre to make you go. It might also be worth discussing with a GP about things you can do to stop your piles getting bigger/worse.

Lots of water to drink, lots of green veggies, roughage. Fluids were the main thing for me that I had to adjust.

Thanks I'm definitely drinking more water today and will look at getting prunes they seem to be a big winner xx

I don't have a problem with constipation but at 9 weeks I'm craving liquorice - discovered the hard (soft) way it's a pretty strong laxative...
