I've had the occassional shooting pain during since the second trimester, but since yesterday it seems to be an almost constant sharp pain, particularly when walking or sitting up straight. I don't know if it's just because the head has engaged or could it be a sign of effacement/dilation? I've not had any contractions that I'm aware of.

Google doesn't seem to be giving me many answers...

Call your MW or delivery suite. Better safe than sorry and they can reassure you if everything's ok.

I get this, we call it 'fanny daggers'... I tend to get it more when walking around, mine has been partly engaged since 32 weeks. Am now 38+4

My midwife told me these pains occurred as baby's head engages cos it presses on nerves and stuff.

But yeah I would ring if I was concerned x
