Scotland - Canary Islands. 4.5 - 5 hour flight. I'm mid-twenties and low-risk pregnancy.

What do the socks even do? I'll be around 20 weeks. I don't know if they're just for later in pregnancy and long haul flights.

I've bought them just in case - £3 on eBay. They're supposed to prevent DVT and blood clots which you are more susceptible to in pregnancyBlush

I always wear flight socks, even when not pregnant. Main reason is to prevent DVT, but they also help with general swelling and make your legs more comfortable.

I bought some at the airport for a long haul flight at 20 weeks. (24 hours of travelling - 3 flights). However, they were too tight, despite my correct foot size and being size 12- 14. Just moved around a lot instead. Ankles were very swollen for over a week on arrival. Bought some whilst on holiday that fitted properly and had no swelling at all on the return journey. GP said not to worry about getting any, but wont do any harm if fit correctly.

long haul at 14 weeks was fine but short haul at 28 weeks made my feet swell so bad that none of my shoes fitted at the other end and this was despite wearing the damn socks! The swelling took best part of a week to go down. I would wear some just as a precaution as it's much better than your shoes not fitting.

I wore them flying long haul at 17 weeks. Forgot to wear them on the return journey and my lower legs both swelled up leading to a very long sit in A&E with suspected DVT. Wear the socks!

I'm in the canaries now funny enough! Final holiday pre baby Smile we flew out when I was 26 weeks and will be returning at 27 weeks! Didn't even think to buy socks and had a window seat so did get up twice to use the loo! Fingers crossed I'll be fine on the way home too! Have a lovely holiday!!

Thanks everyone, I'll buy some just incase. Didn't know they came in different sizes so I'll need to look at that, I've got skinny wee feet and calves.

Thanks Fanby! Very excited! Hope you're having a fab time.
