ahem...orgasms in sleep...

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and had another intense orgasm in my sleep last night which woke me up.

This has happened about 5 times since I've been pg. Wish it was 5 times a night but everytime it happens it mystifies me all the same. I can't even remember what I was dreaming about.

Am I the only (lucky but smug) one that this has happened to in pregnancy?

I'm not even one of those few women that turn out to be a nympho when they are pregnant.

Don't know about orgasms in sleep, but I suffer from sexomnia, sex while sleeping, and this is how I've ended up being 27weeks pregnant. Talk about shocked!! The DP HOWEVER does NOT have this condition, so I've held him fully responsible, you get a LOT of mileage out of that I tell you.LoL

yes i've had one or two this pregnancy.

it was great.

motherinferior · 09/11/2006 15:30

Issymum once pointed out (on a thread like this) that what one needs to do is get one's partner to manage it at the same time...

heidle · 09/11/2006 15:46

thank god, i thought i was weird!!
i get them when not preg, but unfortunately they have now stopped while pg!
I have never been observed thank god (dh sleeps like a log)
would be nice as I just can't face thinking about sex at the mo (17 weeks)

foxinsocks · 09/11/2006 17:03

don't worry heidle - mine went away when I was pregnant (both times) but came back quite soon afterwards

redkennedy · 10/11/2006 19:03

Oh my god, its happened to me LOADS LATELY! Im 13 weeks and id say for the last month or so its happened 2 or 3 times a week. Dream isnt normally sexual, but I find myself somehow trying to climb towards my climax, could be that Im repeating something or walking somewhere, anyway, ITS GREAT. ENJOY!xx

I've had one or two rather lovely dreams in my life but always wake before the conclusion. the one that still makes me blush happened when I was 19, sleeping in a shed full of 19 year olds half way up a mountain in Morocco, still don;t know to this day to what extent all the gasping and moaning was, how shall I put this, perceptible...(wasn't pg I should add)

foxinsocks · 10/11/2006 20:57

oh pmsl hat! were they people who knew you well?

hatwoman · 10/11/2006 20:58

best mate from uni, best mate's sister and her best mate, plus a random selection of pack-backers I;d met that day...

foxinsocks · 10/11/2006 21:00

lol - oh I can't stop sniggering you poor thing!

pesha · 10/11/2006 22:27

I have them too, pg or not. If its only 4% there seems to be alot of us on here! It mostly seems to happen if im having a daytime nap or a lie in rather than in the night, not sure why.

Was quite reassured by my recent dream though as last time i had an orgasm through sex i was in agony afterwards for about 10 mins, felt like 1 long very bad contraction so no sex since but I was fine after the orgasm in my sleep so think we may try again!!
Sorry if TMI!

expatinscotland · 10/11/2006 22:31

yes, more while preg, normally about one every three months..

It was the WEIRD dreams that got me, very disturbing pregnancy dreams. has anyone else had that?

hatwoman · 10/11/2006 22:50

my distrubing pg dreams were all about loosing - literally - the baby - very small thing, lost down the back of the sofa. the freakiest one was when dh and I both had the same dream the same night.

pesha · 10/11/2006 22:57

I had a very freaky dream when about 2 months pg this time about being able to see the babys hands and feet poking right through my skin but then it actually burst through the skin and i was trying to hold the baby and hold my tummy together at the same time. I think there was actually more to it than that but have I blocked it out and do not want to think about it anymore!

hatwoman · 10/11/2006 23:16

eeeew pesha - that's worse than loosing a 5-inch baby behind the sofa....

Gillian76 · 10/11/2006 23:18

never in my life

pregnant or not

feel like I'm missing out now!

pesha · 10/11/2006 23:33

Sorry hatwoman I know thats not funny at all and was probably quite disturbing but I cant help laughing a little at losing a baby down the back of the sofa, it so sounds like something i would do!!

hatwoman · 10/11/2006 23:35

oh there's definitely a funny side - it was funny and awful at the same time. defintely borne of some deep seated anxiety about my inadequacies and overall unsuitability for motherhood.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/11/2006 00:10

I wonder whether its felt more because there is more blood flow to the uterus, and the uterus is a much bigger 'organ' than normal. Maybe it happens alot normally but its not strong enough to wake us????

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2006 00:19

i orgasm in my sleep rather often, pregnant or not, i just assumed everyone did. my dh says it sounds like i'm involved in a fight. although the one disappointing element is that i wake up right at 'the' point, iykwim, so there's none of those delicious waves afterwards. one of the reasons i keep a man about the house.

bumperlicious · 11/11/2006 09:44

I too am one of the lucky 4%, I get these quite a lot and they are the best ever I've only had one since getting pg, in the early weeks when things were a bit unconfortable and it actually hurt like hell! Hope that hasn't put my body off them!

I don't know what causes them, and I haven't noticed a particular pattern but in my dream I am always being ahem...stimulated in some way .

My DH thinks it's great! I guess it's not much different to when teenage boys get wet dreams?

foxinsocks · 11/11/2006 10:18

pesha, I think the 4% in the survey was for people who regularly have them (and it wasn't a reference to pregnant women) - having said that, it was a LONG time ago and I can't really remember most of the survey (and it wasn't an English cosmo, I was abroad!).

like you hat, all my dreams in pregnancy were to do with the baby but with it being stillborn (have no idea why I dreamt this). I imagine it was anxiety as I never thought I was cut out for parenthood. Must admit, I was v relieved once both my children were born and my dreams ahem went back to normal (not that I ever remember what preceeds the actual event!).

I imagine it is the same sort of thing as boys/men and wet dreams.
