19+2 & can't sleep already?!

After spending the first trimester feeling constantly nauseous, I was getting excited about this 'second trimester energy' that I'd heard about. Only for it not to happen!
Anyone else feel the same?
It's my first baby and pregnancy is tough Confused
I still regularly feel nauseous, irritable and can't sleep for longer than 5 hours. Now I have a little bump I can't sleep on my front like I usually do and the slightest noise wakes me up (like the boiler switching on in the morning) or any light that comes in the room.
I work a shift pattern that can vary between the hours of 9am and 1am so it's not ideal getting home at 1am then waking up at 5am. I'm knackered!
Surely I'm not the only one out there suffering from this?!

No you're not. I'm 18+2. Nausea up until about a month ago. Which has returned again :( and I haven't had a full nights sleep since about 11weeks. I'm so happy I'm pregnant (dc1 and 40), but I'm really not enjoying pregnancy. Still waiting for the 2nd trimester bloom that everyone keeps lying talking about.

I had this with my daughter! I also had Brixton hicks from 18 weeks and was constantly sick. Pregnancy suck lol. Don't get me wrong it's all worth it in the end!

And stinkersmum I waited my whole pregnancy for the "bloom" to come in haha xx

Ah, deep joy. My DH already thinks it's girl because of the trouble it's causing. Lol.

Its so reassuring to have other people that feel the same. I feel guilty about saying it but I'm not enjoying being pregnant-I thought id sail through! Roll on October!

dotladotla word....

lauraa4 · 14/05/2015 18:03

between about 16-19 weeks I couldn't sleep very well either. I think it was down to getting a bump like yourself and not being able to sleep on my front. I'm 21 weeks now and getting used to sleeping on my back or side but my OH says I toss and turn all night in my sleep.

Toothfairy7 · 14/05/2015 18:11

It's reassuring to hear other ladies say this... I am 22+5, and for thee past few weeks I have found it more and more difficult to sleep. Albeit the frequent wee breaks in the night, I think even if I didn't need a wee I would still wake up because I'm just getting uncomfy. I sleep on my side which is fine, but I don't know about anyone else, but I wake up because my hips and thighs hurt on the side im sleeping on? It wakes me up then I turn over and it does it on the other side too! Must be the hips shifting and everything?

lauraa4 you shouldn't sleep on your back. Best is left side.

toothfairy do you put a pillow between your legs/knees? It does help.

lauraa4 · 14/05/2015 19:48

Stinkersmum I wasn't aware sleeping on my back wasn't safe to do so? Due to pains on my ovaries especially on my left side I have found this to be most comfortable.

Well thank you for the information.

I've always been a front sleeper and since having to sleep on my side I get a sore shoulder and hip when I wake up on the side I've been sleeping on. That's with my pregnancy pillow and wedge. There's no room for my husband there's so many pillows in my bed Grin
The room has to be in complete darkness, silent and I still can't sleep past 5am. I nearly killed the window cleaner the other morning when he arrived at 8am-I'd spent 3 hours trying to get back to sleep and finally dozed off when he arrived. Poor guy wouldn't have known what hit him!
Very tempted to create some kind of pillow/mattress contraption that fits my bump in it and allows me to sleep on my front...watch this spaceWink
Good luck with your sleep tonight
