Hi does anyone have any advice on what sort of gap to have between baby no 1 and no 2? My son is nearly 10 months old and I would like another at some point so should I go for it now while im still fat after no 1 or wait till he goes to school? Any advice appreciated!!

All of my siblings have had various gaps between their kids, and I can see advantages and disadvantages to different age gaps. In the end, whatever happens, its up to you to make it work.

I'm pregnant with No 1, and for No 2 I'm just not going to take precautions and see what happens. But then, I'll be just shy of 37 when No 1 is born so because of my age, wouldn't want to wait too many years for No 2.

My SIL had her 3 close together, and quite frankly I don't think her health was up to it. My mother threatened to neuter my brother if he didn't let her take a breather, because mum was so concered for her DIL's health.

"best for the children - as close as poss"

I've seen a lot of previously sunny toddlers turn destructive and sullen on the birth of their sibling and not really come right until they start kindy or school.

"best for mum - when they start school"

But not best for her career, or her chances of conception.

I think you should have another when you want to, because any "best time" that one person thinks can be argued the other way by someone else.

Ohnelly...In answer to your question about getting 2 good babies....my dd was/is an angel, slept through from being 6 weeks was basically a text book baby. With my ds people said to me all through my pregnancy that boys are hard work/you won't get another good one, my answer? rubbish

Ds has slept through from being 3 weeks and is a dream, he is only 14 weeks atm though lol.

Forgot to add i have a 2 & half year gap between mine, and no it was quite difficult at first but is getting easier as ds gets older.
