Hi,

Found out I was pregnant on 4th May. Felt like my period has been coming and initially had sore boobs which have eased a bit. I'm now 6 weeks and waiting for midwife to phone me. At present I don't really feel like I'm pregnant. Had a little line of blood when I wiped at 5 weeks but nothing more. Is no symptoms yet normal?

I've heard people have had a scan at 8 weeks, doc said I wouldn't have a scan until 12 weeks, is this right?

I also have Polocystic ovaries.

Thanks.

Hi, congratulations Smile
I've no experience of polycystic ovaries so can't offer any advice there. But I found out I was expecting at six weeks and I think that I started getting symptoms like sickness and tiredness at around seven to eight weeks.
Also Re bleeding I had an early scan due to bleeding around ten weeks. everything fine but as far as I know usually first scan is 12 weeks. If you are concerned you can ring the early pregnancy unit at your hospital they may offer a scan.
Hope I was some help

I've got so symptoms either .... I'm 5w3d and apparently its normal!! Scan is normally at 12 weeks but you can pay privately for an early scan !! I'm having one at 7w just for reassurance as had muscarriage in December!!!

Hi darrenwis I do have polycystic ovaries and found all the way upto 11 or 12 weeks I had period like pains every day. I did have an early scan at 7 weeks but only because of a miscarriage last year and i was worried about the pains this time. It is completely normal to have early pregnancy cramps regardless of having PCOS or not :)

Any sickness or sore boobs I had stopped at 8 weeks and never returned. I too was worried about this but again is very normal. I'm now 21 weeks so don't panic.

I had no symptoms at all until 5wks when I started getting daily cramps (turned out to be caused by wind - peppermint tea sorted that out) and since 6wks morning sickness, although it seems to be easing each day. Actually dread going to bed because the battle starts again.

My advice would be to soak up this symptom free time because you might miss it soon! Congrats Grin

I had no symptoms other than sore boobs and what felt like period pain, in fact still haven't really and I'm 19+1!

I have PCOS and apart from a GTT to rule out diabeties at 28wks (which has a slightly greater risk factor with PCOS) I just followed the std path of 12 and 20 wk scans.

I'm sure the symptoms will kick in at some point, I was about 7 wks when the sickness started and it finally went at 16wks and if you don't get anything then you are one of the lucky ones, though I know it can be a worry feeling so well.

Everyone is different Darren! Like the others said you can book a private "reassurance" scan from 7 weeks. It can cost around £100 though so it depends on your budget. Google reassurance scans in your area. If you have any more spotting you can tell your GP and they should refer you to an early pregnancy unit for a scan too, at any time. A little spotting can be normal though. Have you joined one of the antenatal groups? You can chat to other ladies who are at the same stage as you. I'm on the December thread, would you be due Jan? Check it out x
