Csection question

I'm booked in for a csection soon and starting to pack mine and baby's bag, silly question but what do you wear whilst having the actual section? I'm guessing nothing on the bottom but what about top half?

You'll be given a hospital gown which they'll hoik up to get to your tummy.

Nothing - they will give you a hospital gown to wear. Pack a nightie to wear afterwards as you will have a catheter in so won't be able to wear pj's until it comes out

Giraffe2706 · 13/05/2015 12:06

Thank you, I've only packed pj's so will unpack those and buy some nighties

I am sure you already know this but thinking about pants and any waistline in general you want to avoid the c section. So big pants! I stuck to over the bump leggings and tunics.

I wore a surgery gown! Because it's surgery!

Make sure whatever (loose) trouser bottoms you take for afterwards have a waistband that will sit much higher than your surgery scar.

Don't worry too much about nightdresses. I stayed in my hospital gown until the catheter was removed the next morning (c-section at 5pm). I could barely move and hadn't showered, so getting into my own sleepwear wasn't a priority until the catheter had gone anyway.

I didn't have a catheter!

Surgery gown, don't matter if it gets all messed up then either Wink

If you do wear pjs after the catheter is out make sure they sit high and are massive. Same with pants as you’ll be bloated for a while. Good luck.

I wore just a surgery gown, I had no bra on but if I had it would've been left on. I wore that until the next day (I was in 24 hr special care afterwards with catheter and wasn't allowed to move) and then I changed into a night shirt that was a size up and my normal black satin pj bottoms, didn't need a size up. I could pull them up over my stomach and scar, I wasn't bloated, just a small bit swollen obviously from all the pulling and stuff during the surgery. I got big knickers in that they were full briefs, but I only went up one size because otherwise they'd have been falling off me. So like I got 14's, I'm a 12, some people buy 16-20 knickers and of course they are just way too big and won't stay up.
