False. Evasive is much more likely than a false positive. Unless you are taking medication to help you conceive then it is very, very unlikely to have a false positive.

If you still have a coil in then I think you need to get some medical advice about that.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 13/05/2015 11:10

Definitely a line.

SmileAndNod · 13/05/2015 11:12

I thought that false positives were very rare.
Looks like a positive line to me (in my limited experience)!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 13/05/2015 11:12

Oh, you took the test yesterday? Evaporation line, probably.

sizethree · 13/05/2015 11:21

It looks like an evaporation line to me, sorry. A test is invalid if you read the result after the 5 minute time frame.
How long is a Mirena coil supposed to be left in for? Will it still be effective?

sarkymare · 13/05/2015 11:35

If the line appeared outside of the specified time frame (usually 10 minutes max) then you need to discard it as an evaporation line

scaevola · 13/05/2015 11:50

As you say you took it yesterday, it means nothing now.

You do need to go to your GP and book a replacement coil. Mirenas are only guaranteed (as far as any contraception can be guaranteed) for 5 years. That doesn't mean they fail overnight at the 5 year point, but are going into a decline and need to be changed for a new one.

If you have early PG symptoms, all you can do is keep testing at intervals. It might be worth using condoms as well until you can get the coil replaced.

Mostlyjustaluker · 13/05/2015 12:30

I miss understood. I thought you meant a new test today.

SmileAndNod · 13/05/2015 12:38

I misunderstood tooBlush

BifsWif · 13/05/2015 14:10

blue dye tests are notorious for giving these lines, I avoided them after one too many disappointments with them.

Try a pink dye test tomorrow if you can, but I'd definitely say this is a negative.

felttippens · 13/05/2015 20:01

I'm sure I can't be but I will retest tomorrow

I took a test and on first glance was negative so discarded it. Went back and looked at it about 30 mins later and there was a very faint line, I wasn't sure if it was evap line retested the following morning and a line appeared within the proper time. I'm now 33 weeks.

Maybe retest with fmu and use a pink dye test?

Hotpotpie · 13/05/2015 21:00

I'm 18 weeks pregnant, all my early tests took around 20 mins to show a line. Perhaps worth a retest

weelamb123 · 13/05/2015 21:08

By the looks I that test, you ARE pregnant. Congratulations x

cookielove · 14/05/2015 13:30

Did you retest?

felttippens · 14/05/2015 21:30

Retested today and negative - of course it was ! I have a mirena for gods sake still managed to be hopeful then disappointed at the neg!

Having a glass of wine now and forgetting it ever happened lol

BifsWif · 14/05/2015 21:51

Sorry it wasn't the result you wanted OP Flowers

Enjoy your wine

Sidge · 14/05/2015 22:08

You can't rely on your Mirena for contraception after the 5 year mark.
