For various reasons I may have to miss it. Is my third pregnancy but I can't remember the details of the other two very well. What do twy do at 16 week check and how important is it? Do they listen to the heartbeat?

Can't you rearrange it?

Mine was pretty boring really. They don't listen to the heartbeat here until 24 weeks so they just did a urine test, BP check and reviewed the blood test results I had at the 12 week check. I was in and out in about 5 mind probably!

Not much as Betsy said. I would still rearrange though if you can?

They do your BP and wee and mention your blood results. Where I am they do try to have a listen to the baby. Turned out that I had white blood cells in my wee and had to send a sample off for further testing and she couldn't find the baby's heartbeat so was sent rushing up to the hospital for a scan. Everything was OK.

It's my fifth and the next time I see a midwife will be 28 weeks. I didn't want to leave it that long.

I couldn't make the 16th week, because my son had tonsilitis. I went to schedule it for the week after and that was a Bank Holiday Monday, I had a consultant appointment at 18 weeks so the midwife advised me to not bother booking for that week as they'd be doing the bp and urine at the consultant appointment anyway. I still have no blood test result discussion though and I'm 18+1 now. I think I'll ring on Monday and ask the midwife to give me a ring back if there are any problems there, 24 weeks is the next appointment and that's when the next lot of blood test results would be due, so I don't want to wait until then.

I was too sick to attend mine so rearranged it. I had my BP checked, urine dipped, my blood test results back and booked an appointment for 28 weeks. I was out in less than 5 minutes.

I did find out that in between November and April I have somehow become immune to rubella ( never been immune even after booster jabs) so that was a bit weird.

Where I'm based the 16 week appointment triggers the 20 week scan, so if you do have to miss it give your midwife a call and check the scan request has still gone through

Thanks. We already have a scan date in diary.
