How many vests/sleeps suits, nappies, etc?
Also anything else that could be useful?
Thanks!

3 vests, 3 sleep suits, hat, pack of nappies
Muslin cloths, 2x pack of sanitary towels, lip balm, spare nighty/jammas
magazines.

Your partner can always pop home after and get anything else you need.

Whats the best nipple cream to get? Suitable with breastfeeding? Smile

Crisps/chocolate- you'll be starving after all your hard work! Grin

GillyMac14 · 11/05/2015 18:50

Lasinoh nipple cream is the best , I put it on after every feed in the first week as I was cracked and bleeding but that stuff was amazing ! Can I say food ! I was starving and I needed a stash of cereal bars to keep me going through the night , if your planning breast feeding , a suitable bra a couple of sizes bigger . Handcream , hats for baby , can't think of anything else at the moment but this is just based on my experience , but most things can be brought in if you forget , I forgot all baby clothes !!Wink

I'd actually recommend baby wipes over cotton wool! The midwife changed DS's second poo which was still very sticky and tar like (DH did the first and I was in a bit of a state so she was very kind to offer) but I presented her with some cotton wool balls and she was all err nope! You just end up with bits of cotton wool stuck to your child's butt! Those water wipes look interesting I'll be packing some of them this time I think.

Maternity pads not sanitary towels - more than you think you'll need.

ItsADinosaur · 11/05/2015 19:49

Yes to maternity pads, not sanitary towels. Two packs at least.

Lots of big knickers. I bled afterwards so needed a lot, so be prepared.

heatherxo · 11/05/2015 19:50

I've bought two 10 packs of maternity towels. Will that be enough?

What ever you pack, if you don't have enough stuff cab always be brought in to you!
I recommend magicool to keep you cool (can't actually say how effective it is in labour as my lg just shot out of me and I had time for nothing ha ha!)
Also a bag of man things for your partner such as snacks, magazines etc. Quite often you will get offered food but if its middle of the night the hospital shops will be shut and dp/dh will go hungry!
I massively over packed and used hardly any of it. X

Nipple cream (Lansinoh) makes excellent lip balm. Just take the Lansinoh, it'll be a lot easier to find than scrabbling round for a lip balm.

I've also bought a little spray bottle so DH can spray my face during labour (which could actually end up being really annoying, but we'll see!).

Marvel101 · 11/05/2015 22:09

Definitely baby wipes - cotton balls are a nightmare. I used cotton balls on Ds1 - following the hospital advice. I quickly ditched them for wipes. On DS2 I went with wipes from the start. Expecting DS3 and no question about using wipes straight off.

Also some dark pjs - in case of blood - less obvious

Flip flops for using in the hospital showers - I don't like walking in bare feet in there

Bra suitable for breast feeding

UmBongo · 11/05/2015 22:11

LANSINOH, you will need it.
Terry nappy squares absorb more baby sick than muslins.
Tea bags and your favourite mug.
Big cheap pants to go with the maternity pads. Don't bother with disposable pants.
Slippers.

Good luck!
