Pregnant with new job

Hello :)

I am thinking of letting my work know I'm pregnant now I'm past 16 weeks.

I'm terrified about it as I've only worked there for 11 weeks. I had no idea I was pregnant when I began and I know I won't get pay but I'm worried I won't have a job afterwards.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

My boss was less than pleased when I told her (but displeased is her default state...) she actually asked me if I'd be taking more than four weeks maternity leave... Sigh...

Make sure you tell them in a very positive/proactive way, e.g.

" I need to let you know that I'm pregnant and due in x. I wanted to tell you now so that we can work on a cover plan to make sure that all my duties are covered and anyone who needs to be is trained up as needed until my return."

Then follow that up with an email to boss plus HR, stating the same thing as a written record.

Join a union if you aren't in one. Record any incidences of them treating you badly. And unfortunately, because some employers are shits, network NOW ...just in case.

Thanks for the advice skiptonlass, your boss sounds lovely! HmmHmm

I moved 100 miles for this job and then found out I was pregnant which seems typical! Oh well I'll just have to see how it goes.

It's a really nice company but I still feel awful!
