Holiday ideas at 33 weeks

I'm looking to book something for our summer hols but all being well will be 33-34 weeks by the time we can go (DS is older, so at school) and struggling for ideas.

Obviously flying is out, so we're looking at UK or, at a push northern France. I'm reasonably relaxed about France (DH speaks pretty fluent French and I can more than get by), but suspect other people might think it's too much of a risk. Did see something about having to get specialist travel insurance as well?

We normally like quite outdoorsy holidays, so if UK preference would be for camping, and if France then Eurocamp or similar. I'm expecting to stay fairly fit and mobile - no issues so far

Only things holidaying me back are that DS arrived quickly at 37 weeks - all went well, but does make me a bit twitchy about this one.

Any amazing ideas please?!

I'm pondering the same questions. You can fly with a fit-to-fly note until 36w (my GP quoted £50 for the note). From my research, the ferry companies have similar cut-offs to the planes - I think they'll want a fit-to-travel note after 32w at latest.

For insurance, all I did was informed the provider we had, and got an OK, didn't even cost any more.

I'm off to Turkey for a wedding then Greece with a friend at 27w. Want a later get away with DP though, so thinking a UK trip in our caravan.

I've loved the Scilly Isles, Cornwall and Brighton for camping and swimming in the sea. The Norfolk coast around Southwold is surprisingly beautiful and often quiet. If you prefer a city break, there are good campsites within a walk / bus ride of lots of pretty cities - we've tried Bath, Oxford (very easy) and Cambridge.

I don't really rate the towns in the easy-to-get-to bits of Northern France. If you do go into France, the ferry to Dunkirk is usually cheaper than Calais, and puts you close to the beaches and beautiful cities in Belgium or the Netherlands, too. In NL, 85% of the population speak English, so that's a bonus if you want to talk to a doctor.

what about devon? there's some gorgeous places around there and if you have a child of school age, they will probably love poking around places like this:

Eurostar had no restrictions re pregnancy so France is probably a good option. Ferried, from my research, don't permit travelers after 32 weeks.

I'm looking for a holiday around the same gestation period but I'm a wuss and want to stay in the UK. We're considering Centre Parcs

I was due to go to france on a brittany ferries hol at 33 weeks but had to cancel because they won't take you beyond 28 weeks no exceptions! Eurostar, eurotunnel and other ferry companies as well as airlines are more flexible.
France is a good a place as any if there is an emergency, insurance is not a problem as long as you check the provider.
We ended up getting a cottage in dorset instead.

Thanks for the ideas - and the tip off on Brittany ferries! Must admit I'd been thinking ferry rather than tunnel, but will check and research options. Think Devon / Dorset might be our UK options, as we're Home Counties, so it's an easy drive relatively speaking.

We stayed in a lovely little campsite near st Ives in Cornwall called Balnoon, was near so many places to keep us busy and entertained and there was lots of stuff on for kids. Although not a concern for us at the time :)

We also did the Eden project on the way down.
