How much did you pay for your pram?

I know it's a bit of a personal thing but I'm trying to find out how much a typical pram costs and what other people are paying? We've seen some we like at £400, some at £600 and one at £1,000. What were other people happy to pay?

We paid £450, but it was an ex demo Phil & Teds and should have been £200 or £300 more, so it was a total bargain. Ds is now 3 and am 36 weeks pregnant with my second ds and the pushchair still is as good as new. It's been to Sweden and back numerous times, and lots of country and cliff path walks, as well as being brilliant around town and easy to fold & put up! I wouldn't change it for the world and would have happily paid full price for it knowing what u know now. Hope that helps? Smile

About £550. Decided to invest so wanted a decent one to cover all babies we have planned (only 3 max)

measles64 · 04/05/2015 19:08

I bought DIL the pram system she wanted. The Bugaboo Chameleon the car seat also fits in it. I have to say it is a dream to use even got it through a coastal footpath which was inches deep in sand after a storm. It was £895 without the car seat.

BlueBee · 04/05/2015 19:09

Just bought the M&P Sola 2 MTX, Pram, carrycot and car seat for £499, it's a special offer.

Poofus · 04/05/2015 19:11

£20 on ebay. They even delivered it. It was great!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 04/05/2015 19:11

We got a second hand stokke for £200. Would have been £1000 new.

MishMooshAndMogwai · 04/05/2015 19:11

£45 for a Mamas and papas travel system. They wanted £50 but I ground the buggers down!

Skeppers · 04/05/2015 19:15

We've just paid £290 for a Gracco Sky car seat and buggy combo that can be used from birth. This suited us; was flexible, lightweight, folded up small and a bargain as was on offer at Babies R Us. We could have spent more- had planned a budget of up to £600-800, but didn't see the point in spending more than we needed to. We now have a few spare hundred quid to spend on other things! Smile

Ladypug · 04/05/2015 19:19

This is really interesting! I didn't think of buying one second hand (plus parents are paying so they want to get it for us and visit shops with us) but otherwise I might. I do feel like £1k might be too much but £600 feels ok and I guess it's the biggest investment really isn't it?

450 euro. It came with a car seat that fits onto the base of the pram.

gymboywalton · 04/05/2015 19:22

we spent 460 pound in the year 2000Shock
it was a silver cross thing and was too big and impractical but i loved it

and the carry cot off it did for 4 children

Orangedaisy · 04/05/2015 19:23

We have an old style bugaboo cameleon that a friend gave us for free, they had used it for their two and it was sat in the garage gathering dust. They were speaking to my DP and said 'no way would orange want a second hand pram....Otherwise you'd be welcome to it'. They were quickly corrected and the next day it appeared home with DP. Worth getting the word out that you're looking for one as you never know! We took them out for a posh dinner to say thanks but was definitely a great deal!

Orangedaisy · 04/05/2015 19:25

Oh, and that also meant parents (who had offered to buy us pram) bought a lovely shiny new cybex sirona instead....

DorothyBastard · 04/05/2015 19:26

We paid £500 for a M&P Pliko travel system including car seat and isofix base, used it for about 9 months before moving to an umbrella fold stroller.

I'm pregnant again and didn't want to use the Pliko again mainly because it has 2 handles, so will be impossible to push while holding DD's hand. So we have splashed out on an ex-display Bugaboo Buffalo, which with a new car seat and isofix base came to around £1200.

I just need to dig all the Pliko bits out of the garage so I can put it on eBay/Facebook!

Jellytummys123 · 04/05/2015 19:28

I spent around £280 for a brand new travel system. Has a car seat and everything! I was sceptical at first but is the lightest pram I've ever used (and I've pushed a lot of babies around!) easy to push and change car seats and I could even lift both parts easily with a baby in one hand.. Amazing!
My 3 year old nephew uses it a lot as well when I look after him (dd in sling) Absolute bargain, nearly bought a bugaboo.. But got one that looks just as good, works just as well and saved myself £500! It's a little devils carrera sport, doesn't seem to have any reviews online so thought I'd share my review here!

MrsAukerman · 04/05/2015 19:28

Nothing. Handmedown from sil. It doesn't work with the car seat though so I would probably get one that does for number 2. Number 1 is 5 months. Think about the size of your hall / front door etc too before you choose.

cathpip · 04/05/2015 19:30

I paid £450 on a mountain buggy with carrycot attachment whilst expecting my first in 2008, dc4 will be using it when he's born in August.

Hopelass · 04/05/2015 19:35

I think our babystyle oyster travel system with all the carrycot, car seat, isofix base, adapters, raincovers, changing bag etc etc was £670 altogether. This was the original oyster and I think the oyster 2 and max had just come out so it had gone down in price.

strawberrytablecloth · 04/05/2015 19:37

We (well, PIL) spent about £700 on an iCandy Cherry travel system 5.5yrs ago. In that period, I think that, on average, I have used it every other day so pretty good value on a cost per use basis. What was even better value was the BJCM which I got second hand for £70 as a holiday pram 5yrs ago & which has been used on the days the iCandy hasn't. Basically, the BJCM lives in the car & is used if we drive anywhere & the iCandy is permanently up in the fortunately big hall way and is used whenever we walk anywhere. It has worked brilliantly for us.

kettlepot · 04/05/2015 19:40

£779, incl free footmuff for the Joolz Day. Bought new because of warranty if anything went wrong, and bought that particular model for the large carrycot and because it can be used overnight if needed (some are collapsible and therefore you're not meant to use them). Spent another £30 on the car seat adapters.

Well worth the money (if a bit painful to part with!). Planning on baby number two in a few years so will reuse then.

I sympathise OP. Pram shopping drove me slightly loopy. There are SO many to choose from, all only slightly different than the last.

stargirl1701 · 04/05/2015 19:40

Stokke Xplory V3 with the seat and carrycot plus a car seat and then the Winter Kit came to about £1300, I think. My Dad paid for it though as a gift.

DinosaursStillEggsist · 04/05/2015 19:45

275 on a silver cross travel system including car seat. Have bought a running buggy too since DS likes to be nosy and it's much lighter and more manoeuvrable. However the SC one was perfect for all our needs (except running) and we will use for any siblings too

Laquila · 04/05/2015 19:46

Approx £600 for BJ Versa GT with a BeSafe car seat and carrycot. Money very well spent! It'll do for the second baby too and I'll sell the buggy and carrycot on for £150 or so at the end. But I also spent £50 on an old, fairly dog-eared BJCM which has been bloody brilliant for hols and in the car/round and about town.

Ladypug · 04/05/2015 19:47

It's so hard and even the variety in the answers, there is no "typical" price. We are looking at an oyster, an I candy and a Jane and they all seem great £600-£1,000 but was just interested to hear other people's comments on price and value. Thank you so much! X
