Itching legs - driving me insane!

Any advice... I have such itchy legs, not sure if all to do with dry skin but i am wanting to scratch like mad!!!!

Is it only your legs? Sometimes itching is important, does your MW know?

When's your baby due? May be wise to get get this checked. There's a liver condition which can occur in late pregnancy which causes itchy skin so it could do with being checked, www.patient.co.uk/health/obstetric-cholestasis-leaflet. Could also be an allergy, if you've recently changed your washing powder for example, best to be on the safe side though.

I had itchy legs at the start of my second preg. It was horrendous! I've never had itching like it!!!!! I went to the docs and they were confused and just said oh it's probably dry skin. No it fxing wasn't! I didn't have dry skin there. I'm convinced it was some weird hormone thing. My mum had it when she was preg too. I'd try foot cooling sprays, washing in cold water... Tbh nothing worked for me. But then it just stopped. Really try not to scratch if you can because that definitely made it loads worse for me.

Tho if course as pp have said do get yourself checked to ensure it is not something more serious!

I had the same, moisturiser (tried loads of different types) just made it worse.

After a massive spot breakout this week I was smearing one of those teatree and witch hazel sticks all over my face and decided to try on my itchy legs and it worked like a dream! It stopped the itching and is healing the scabby bits where I've scratched a little too vigorously.

ugh... am 14 weeks today!!now my upper arms!! my face is soon dry and spotty how!!!?

I'm the same... Itchy legs at night. I've found almond oil helpful, and also running really hot water on them. As hot as you can take without scalding for about 30 sec, then rub almond oil in. Aloe Vera gel kept in the fridge is good too.
My skin is so dry, yet spotty! It's like being a teenager again!
Get it checked out if it's really bad as severe itching can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis.

I had this too around the same time and spoke to my midwife who recommended I saw the dr who prescribed a light steroid cream that cleared it up in a day. It was heaven as the itching was out of control. You can't get cholestatis that early in pregnancy and it mainly affects soles of the feet and hands so don't worry xx

Aveno moisturiser is really good and oats (in the bath) are also supposed to be good for itchy skin.

Horrendous. I had this with DS1 around the same stage. Tiger balm was the only thing that stopped it itching at night. My MW thought that I was allergic to some of the hormones that he was producing

Whatever it was it disappeared as suddenly as it began after about two weeks.

I would ask your midwife to check it out to rule out Choleostasis.

You CAN get it from as early as 8 weeks and it doesn't just affect palms and soles:

Totally agree with SomethingFunny. You can get it that early and it can be fatal. I too had itching which turned out to be nothing but you MUST get it checked out.

She should still get checked out by a medical professional. All I know is that if my friend had been sent to the hospital with her itching, her baby boy may well have been saved. Not a risk worth taking in my view.

Get some aveeno oatmeal stuff. I have the shower gel, body lotion and bath oil. It really is a saving grace!

I had the itichiest legs at the beginning of my pregnancy. They ruled out OC and it did die down by about 20/24 weeks.

I really sympathise I was drawing blood I was scratching so hard. I found that exfoliating my legs thoroughly in the bath really helped and so did just using aqueous cream.

i think it is just dry skin as i bought oil and that eases it for an hour but will let mw know too.
What i am puzzled by is the dry skin all over my body not just lizard legs!

Really appreciate the help!

Off to Indonesia on Fri, for 3 weeks so need relief on the planes!

Aveeno is on my list for shopping today now!

In Indonesia you should be able to get real coconut oil. It's great for dry skin, itchiness, allergies and probably just about everything else. If you're visiting the islands, you'll have no probs finding the stuff. Enjoy your time in Indonesia and stay safe.
