I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thanks everyone, am in bed and have been much better since the car incident :-/ have managed to keep some food and liquids down too which I'm pleased about.
lilac I'm a little wary of dogs too so that would have made me a bit stressed as well. You sound like you did better than I might have done!

Meerka · 16/06/2015 19:28

lilac that itching sounds so, so annoying. The dog sounds frankly rather scary. Like laura says, sounds like you handled it really well.

laura hope you have been able to rest

hello and ealli, hope your SPD is a bit less today ...

Penguinandminipenguin · 16/06/2015 20:13

Lilac As soon as I read your post I thought about your liver! I think the main symptoms of that though are itching on the palm of your hands (I think). It might just be the heat - you never know! Glad your midwife has tested you though, best to be on the safe side :)

LucindaE · 17/06/2015 10:14

Lilac I do remember itching myself, and hearing it is usually do with the skin stretching? But that is round the midriff; if it's all over that is awful, though I wonder if it is hormonal? I so agree with Meerka and others, that dog episode sounds scary, looking at your post again I see what I missed before that he was a big one and half threatening. No wonder it made you feel a lot worse.
Penguin How are things? Laura are you a bit better today?
Surely Chintaria must be out of hospital by now? I do hope so.
I hope Lahottie any Heat123 MelleeCarno LoveLettersand everyone
is coping today.

Hope everyone is OK today?

Lilac well done on handling the dog situation well! Hope you are feeling better now.

Laura also hope you are feeling better today?

Ill here today. Had managed not to vomit until 11.30 today and up came the contents of my stomach in the work loos :( Didn't know whether to just go home or battle through but gunna try and stay.

I don't know if this is a silly question or not but could it possibly be my clothes today? Just I have my usual work trousers and they are starting to become really uncomfortable and have felt like they have added pressure all morning. Feel like if I could just take them off I wouldn't be so sick... Going to actually look for something else to wear on my lunch hour. We have a mothercare here but its only a small one and has one rail of maternity clothes... annoying!

Amyyy27 · 17/06/2015 11:52

Sorry that hasn't came out right, I mean could my trousers be making me worse ( I felt ill as soon as I woke up)

Meerka · 17/06/2015 12:07

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the trousers amyyyy. the Bump isn't like excess padding bumps is it, it's a great deal more solid and uncomfortable when compressed.

Seeing as a leaf dropping off a tree or dandelion seed floating by can make HG worse, it sounds quite possible that it's not helping.

Amyyy27 · 17/06/2015 13:07

Thanks Meerka, after trying on some other trousers I am sure its these! The relief when they came off... shame I couldn't find any that fit! They were all hanging off me, sizes I used to wear. Think I have underestimated my weight loss!

Penguinandminipenguin · 17/06/2015 13:17

Hi everyone :) Hope you're all well!!

I do think it's the trousers Amy - have a look online later at places like Next/Asda/Matalan online.

I had a growth scan again yesterday, I think I mentioned on here last time baby was big at 4lb 3oz at 30 weeks. At 33 she is 5lbs 11oz :O So I have a doppler scan next week, and another growth scan and consultant appointment next week.

Feeling sick today, but think it's because I'm overdoing it. Was a busy day with hospital yesterday, and today is dh's 30th birthday so I was up early to make him breakfast in bed, and now trying to make (my first ever solo!!) him a cake.

elizabethsmum · 17/06/2015 14:15

bother!- just typed a long message only to delete the whole thing accidentally Angry

Hi to all and sorry to any newbies I may have missed over the exceptionally busy weekend on the thread- welcome and please feel free to join in our communal head down the loo thread ....

amy am sure comfier trousers will help matters somewhat- hope you've managed to get to mothercare!

lilac with my sonographer hat on am glad midwife has checked your bloods as a precaution . there was another thing beginning with P that someone on here had recently to do with pregnancy and skin which caused itching- sorry I should know but I can't remember now!

laura hope you're having a better day?

wonders how carno, kayme, lahottie and everyone in the ghastly first trimester are getting on today?- hope everyone is surviving?

waves to penguin, meerka, mellee, lucinda & everyone

LHReturns · 17/06/2015 14:46

Hello kind friends! I have changed my name from lahottiereturns to this, as it occurred to me that people might misunderstand what I meant by the former.

After my hideous HG experiences I sadly miscarried on Monday and had a D&C late last night.

I am sad, but mostly feeling guilty because the nausea and vomiting stopped from the moment I woke up, and I find myself so relieved by this. I am eating and drinking again and feel bad that I am enjoying this.

A second child was not planned this soon, so I am really ok. Sure there will be a few emotional moments in coming days but right now, I am home and enjoying being a good mummy to my son for the first time in some weeks.

I thought my friends in this thread would understand how I am feeling, as HG really has taken me to some very dark places...

LHReturns · 17/06/2015 14:54

I was only 7.5 weeks, in case you weren't sure...

Amyyy27 · 17/06/2015 15:46

oh LH I am so sorry for your loss, how cruel Flowers. Don't feel guilty at all for feeling relieved. HG is such a horrible thing, it is only natural to feel relieved that you feel better.

Take care of yourself. The miscarriage board on here is very good for support, and if/when you feel like trying again I highly recommend TTC after MC thread in conception. They were amazing for me. xx

elizabethsmum · 17/06/2015 16:20

LH I am very sorry for your loss and what you have been through over the past few weeks, but I can totally understand how in some ways it is a relief to feel so much better. please don't feel guilty and enjoy your time with your son xx

LucindaE · 17/06/2015 16:42

LHReturns I am so sorry for your loss. FlowersFlowers. As others say, please don't feel at all guilty for any sense of relief at escaping from the sickness. Be kind to yourself.
This is the first time I have known two miscarriages on this thread in a week, with MarchGirl's loss days ago.

Thank you so much, you are all so lovely. I am so happy to be home, and properly enjoying my little boy and all his wonderful birthday presents. To not be feeling so green and faking my pleasure for the first time in 3 weeks is actually pretty special. I am sure the reality will sink in soon, but for now I shall focus on enjoying the freedom from that grinding sickness!

Laura7010 · 17/06/2015 17:10

Firstly LH I am sorry for your loss.

amy get those stretchy trousers on ASAP, you'll wonder why you waited so long!!

My day has been much better thanks, no sick this morning or on the way to work. My day has been really busy though and I'm here at school till 6.30 at parents eve. Between that and the end of school we had a meeting which my boss didn't appreciate would be too much for me to handle on top of staying so late. I've now just been sick in the staff loos with lots of parents milling around Sad looking forward to getting home and to bed!

Hope others are having an ok day.

LilacWine7 · 17/06/2015 17:19

LH I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers Flowers Take good care of yourself.

chopsface · 17/06/2015 18:10

LH I'm sorry for your loss luvvie, take care of yourself Flowers

Glad some of you are having good spells and meh to the bad bits.

I felt good this morning, and bloomin starving at lunch time! I had 2 lunches! Feeling ropey this afternoon though and I'm a bit cross with dh for waking me up from my nap on the sofa. He said he was worried about me as I didn't answer him the first time so he woke me to make sure I wasn't in some kind of coma Hmm I think it's just coz he wanted his dinner. I now have a thumping head. The Avomine are deffo keeping away the vomming all day now ive adjusted the times I'm taking them. But they do make me awfully drowsy and headachey in the afternoons. Worried about doing full days in work next week when my sick note runs out :-( also worried about being told to stop them by the doctor as I rely on them now! Argh!

LilacWine7 · 17/06/2015 18:11

Amy I'm sure tight clothes make nausea worse. I can't stand anything tight on my waist or anything restrictive. I've been living in very soft stretchy dresses, loose-fit tunics and leggings though some days its too hot for leggings now (though after dog incident I'll never wear a short dress without leggings again!!) Also find stretchy yoga-trousers very comfortable. I ordered most of my maternity-clothes from Next and ASOS as couldn't find much in the shops.

Laura glad you're having a better day, but it must be exhausting doing parents' eve on top of it! Your boss sounds very callous and unsympathetic, he should be grateful you're making it into work at all let alone expecting you to stay late for extra staff meetings! Hope you have a good rest when you get home today.

Penguin how did the cake turn out? Hope your DH had a nice birthday. Sorry you've had worries over baby's growth. At least they're monitoring you carefully with extra scans, although must be stressful for you.

I'm sure the stress of yesterday's dog incident has caused HG to get worse again!! I vomited throughout yesterday afternoon and eve then woke in night with bad nausea and another itch-attack Sad Been vomiting a lot today as well, 3x this morn and 4x this pm. Saw obstetrician this morn, he persuaded me to try metoclopamide again (10mg 3x day) as he said it will help with reflux too. Urine test was positive for protein (but no other signs of infection) so it's been sent off to lab for more tests. Doctor was dismissive about itching, he said v.common in pregnancy due to hormones and skin sensitivity, but said if bloods are normal they'll repeat them in a week to be on safe side as certain liver conditions can cause random attacks of itching. So lots of test results to wait for at the moment!

Meerka · 17/06/2015 19:33

LH I'm so sorry. Wishing you a quick recovery. Try not to feel bad - after so much awful illness, on a sheer physical level it has to be a relief. Flowers

penguin good luck with the scans.

I had heard that itching is very common in preg too lilac, apparently it can drive people crazy!

Meerka · 17/06/2015 19:47

uhh i may have phrased that badly LH, it reads back as a bit bad. Sorry.

Laura7010 · 17/06/2015 19:51

I'm finally home and lying down! Luckily I only had nice kids to talk about so that was a bonus.
lilac my boss is awful, when I told him I was pregnant he asked if I was sure?! Wtf??? Whereas my head teacher (big boss man) jumped up with his hands in the air and ran round to hug me!
On a nicer note I got a letter from a student today, who has been in my form for the last 5 years (just left in year 11) thanking me for all I've done for him. He was a proper little tear away but now he's going to military college to train to be an officer, I could burst with pride! I couldn't stop crying at what he had written and it made all my stress worthwhile.
On the trouser/summer clothes front I have some super comfy maternity linen trousers from Jojo's that I've bought in two colours and wear almost everyday, would highly recommend.

LHReturns · 17/06/2015 20:13

Meerka, not at all. On a sheer physical level it IS a relief! Suddenly hit the wall and felt totally exhausted with very swollen tummy. So come to bed with peppermint tea...

Meerka · 17/06/2015 20:18

I hope you can rest and let your body and mind recover. Take care x
