I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

amyy how much blood? not much I hope, if it was more than a trace get to the docs, please?

hello it sounds utterly miserable :(

eallison sorry about your SPD but I promise you, once it is all over it will have been worth while. Sometimes it takes a time to recover and some people stick at one, but it really is wonderful when that as-yet-unseen baby is finally there. (even if it's hard to believe in the reality of the baby right now, at least it was for me!).

penguin i had a big calendar above my desk with a countdown to Day 0 (induction day) =)

Kayme I do hope you can have ondansetron. it helps so many people. Glad you're feeling well enough to at least log on. Sometimes screens can make things harder

I have something called EDS it's to do with hypermobilty all my joints and internal organs are stretchy, this makes me more prone to both conditions

so many people, hope everyone is surviving the day .... thinking of everyone.

LucindaE · 15/06/2015 14:47

I'm so sorry so many are suffering horribly with spd. It's so not fair to have that too. Lilac great post, and it's so sweet you had a chat with the old lady at the bus stop.
any That is horrible, as lilac says, if it's red its probably from the throat and not serious, but if there was more than a little bit of it, or if it's brown, that is a medical emergency, being from the stomach, so I hear; I so agree with Meerka if so do get it checked. I remember my horror when someone on here began to vomit up coffee grounds. How often has the vomiting been of late?
kayme Welcome back, sorry you've been feeling so bad. 29 January was my late father's birthday, and he could be incredibly funny, so maybe you'll have an LO who makes you laugh till you cry to make up for this.
Penguin I did hear something about babies sometimes moving less with Meto. though obviously not to the point for it to be worrying for medics, but I can't remember where on earth it was.
Carno How did the gp appointment go? Chin How are things now?

I hope LoveLetters got that injection. MarchGirl Lahottie and everyone is coping today. Sorry if I've rudely overlooked anyone.

Thanks ladies, it was streaks of red blood in vomit and also phlegm coughed up in between vomiting. I've been before about it and they told me it is Mallory Weiss syndrome due to the vomiting and gave me the same advice to go back if brown etc, so great advice ladies thank you x

Laura7010 · 15/06/2015 15:21

I vomit blood amy. It comes up when my stomach is empty and it's just bile. I get streaks of blood that are bright red :(

Amyyy27 · 15/06/2015 15:27

Its nasty isn't it Laura! I woke up one morning and all my vomit was blood red. Apparently it had pooled over night from the tears in my throat yuck!!

Meerka · 15/06/2015 15:36

ive been curious about this for - well, since it happened.

Has anyone upchucked so much that they get a dreadful salty taste? utterly yuk, the worst thing I've ever tasted. It's after your bile is completely emptied and you've not been able to stop. Very salty, as I say

ive never come across a reference to it except in a really minor way in different circumstances and I'm curious (in a probably-shouldn't-ask way) if anyone else has had it.

Marchgirl · 15/06/2015 17:24

Just wanted to say thank you for all your replies to me over the past few days. Unfortunately this pregnancy has turned into another early miscarriage this morning (no 5 Sad), so I'm leaving for now. But hope I'll be back here sometime (hopefully for a bit longer). Best of luck to all of you with the sickness, and with the spd.
Ps. For someone that mentioned coccyx pain, I'm not sure if you sit at a desk at all, but if you do, i got a special cushion from ot at work that had a cutout for my coccyx which made it a little more bearable.

Penguinandminipenguin · 15/06/2015 17:49

Marchgirl I'm so sorry to hear that. Please look after yourself over the following days/weeks. In the nicest possible way, I hope you don't end up back here - I hope there is no need for you to be here, and that you're able to just join an antenatal club thread instead :)

There is a miscarriage board on here that is really supportive, please consider posting on there if you think it will be of any help to you at all. Thinking of you Flowers

LilacWine7 · 15/06/2015 17:56

Marchgirl very sorry to hear your sad news Flowers Hope you're ok. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best for the future Flowers

Marchgirl really sorry to hear your news.I can't imagine the pain of going through HG and not getting the rewards sometimes life is just not fare. X

kayme · 15/06/2015 18:36

The doctor phoned to say I can't get ondansetron because of risks to my heart due other medical conditions. So I guess I will be plodding on as I am. Sad

chopsface · 15/06/2015 18:43

So sorry for your loss march Flowers

meerka I get a bizzare taste in my mouth after just bile vomming. Then when I take a sip of water it tastes like sugar water! Do you get that too?

Melleebacca · 15/06/2015 19:00

Oh marchgirl SadFlowers. So awful to suffer with HG and then have a loss. Our hearts go out to you.

To those further along, I have a question. I know it's possible for HG to relapse in the 3rd trimester, do you think this is due to less sleep from tossing and turning with a big belly? My sleep has diminished this last few days, I'm now waking up at 4.30am when I used to make it to 6am, and I think that's why I've had a few rough days.

Sorry to hear about everyone suffering from spd. I have slight hip pain, and am keeping a close eye on if it gets worse. Plan on purchasing a gigantic pregnancy pillow today to start supporting me more.

Hugs to all!

Laura7010 · 15/06/2015 19:08

Flowers sorry to hear your news march Flowers

Amyyy27 · 15/06/2015 19:15

march I am so sorry for your loss Flowers hope you have lots of real life support. Thinking of you x

Meerka · 15/06/2015 19:37

chipsface I didn't get the sugar water thing exactly but for a few moments water did taste exceptionally nice in contrast to, well, what went before.

mellee i suspect that the lack of sleep doesn't help the returning of the HG but I believe that it's mostly the hormones playing silly buggers again :/

Penguinandminipenguin · 15/06/2015 20:07

I agree with Meerka - lack of sleep won't help, but it's more to do with the hormones.

Ems10000 · 15/06/2015 22:12

marchgirl I can't imagine how you must be feeling, take care of yourself xxx

elizabethsmum · 15/06/2015 23:07

Laura7010 · 16/06/2015 08:02

Morning everyone, I've just been sick on myself and in the car on my way to work Sad have turned around and come home but I'm really bad this morning, meds are doing nothing today.

Amyyy27 · 16/06/2015 09:21

Oh Laura sorry you are feeling so ill today :( I remember being that bad and was still battling into work, I had to have a bin bag open on my lap driving to work. When tablets didn't help the only thing I could do was go to sleep as it was the only time I wasn't vomiting! But have a sick bucket by your side just in case. Hope you are feeling better soon x

LilacWine7 · 16/06/2015 13:54

Laura sorry you're feeling so ill. Try to rest as much as you can and don't rush back to work. Like Amy says it often helps to lie flat in bed and stay lying down until worst of nausea passes. Sleeping really helps pass the time on bad days.

Mellee yes lack of sleep makes my symptoms worse too. If I'm up in night I try to nap next day to catch up. Last night I woke up around 2am itching all over! No idea why, no rash, no change of washing-powder or products. Couldn't sleep for hours, then it suddenly stopped. Told my midwife today, she took bloods to check liver-enzymes as a precaution. She also referred me for group-physio for SPD as has shorter waiting list than 1-1 consultation.

Was sick 3x this morning, and again when I got home from midwife appointment. Walked 20mins home and had horrible encounter with a massive boisterous dog that wouldn't leave me alone. He was friendly but kept banging into my legs and putting his head up my dress, revealing my knickers to all the drivers waiting at traffic-lights Blush Blush
I'm nervous of big dogs and there was no owner or houses in sight. I tried to fend him off with my maternity file but didn't want to antagonise him in case he got aggressive. Was so scared I nearly threw up on pavement!

LucindaE · 16/06/2015 14:29

Sympathies to Laura, I'm glad you turned back, anyway, and Lilacfor the dog episode and his 'inappropriate' putting his head up your dress.
Meerka I vaguely connect a salty taste with vomiting up Gaviscon and far worse, phlegm, but it sounds as if you had a completely empty stomach.
Chopsface mentioned the sweet taste of water after bringing up bile, and I suppose that is because bile is so acid the neutral qualities of water make it seem sweet?

Chintaria I do hope you are out of hospital?
Waves to lovely elizabethsmum Meerka and Penguin EMS and hopes everyone isn't suffering too much in this lovely weather.
