planning on second child currently on coil

Me and my partner are planning on our second child, am currently on the coil I only had it fitted in 5th December last year. After my implant in my arm had expired I choose the coil as implant was making my periods heavy and painful. The coil has stopped my periods am not just getting slight spotting. I cant wait any longer for another baby so broody that its making me sad seeing baby's and not having one myself. Am planning on getting the coil took out has anyone else been on the maerinea coil and got pregnant if so how long did it take for you to catch on please. Ino everyone is different but I would just like to know

Hi I had the mareinea coil fitted before both pregnancys I had it removed the 1st time bled for round 3 months and took around 2-3 month to fall but didn't find out I was pregnant till I was round 12 weeks pregnant, she's 20 months old now I'm currently 38weeks with our son. I had the coil fitted straight after my daughter then took 2-3 weeks after the coil was removed to fall with this pregnancy it was very quick I didn't have a bleed after it just fell.
Hope you fall quick but don't give up if it takes a bit more time.

It took me 2 and a half years after the coil, when I had fallen quite quickly previously after taking the pill if that makes sense. I do think that we were very unlucky though.

I got pregnant five months after having it removed, although if I'm honest we weren't trying that hard for the first two or three.

My periods had also been stopped completely, and they came back quite quickly - albeit (thankfull! ) lighter than before. It took about two months for them to settle back into what I saw as a normal rhythm. I'll definitely have another one after this baby is born.

dont be put off by what you read online - the people posting there are generally those who have had a more negative experience so it's a biased sample. You tend to find a lot of people saying they were fine with their first/second/etc child but after trying for another they found it slower - you'd find that anyway on a population level as it does get harder when you're a few years older. You also find that people struggling Ttc can sometimes find it easier to blame an external factor than to accept its the passage of time, etc.

Exactly the same as skiptonlass had it removed last January after having for 4 years with no period.

Consultant said to go home and start trying but I personally wanted to wait three full cycles first. Got my bfp four cycles later and going for my elcs on Friday!

My date of conception was two days post coil removal. I was quite shocked tbh

I'd had the coil in for just over 3 years when I had it removed. Take out on the 17th Feb and had a BFP 23 March... Sadly miscarried at 5-6 weeks and the advice would be to have a least a couple of full cycles, 1 to get your womb lining back to normal and 2 for dating and knowing where you are. Everyone is different but my experience is wait a couple of month.. Good luck xx

I had my coil fitted for 3 years after the birth of DD (and sadly didn't have a great experience with it when it came to removal - it took 14 attempts to get it out in the end after scans etc, but that's another story! The coil itself was great and had no other problems with it the whole time I had it).
When it came to trying for a baby everything was regular as clockwork before I had the coil removed as my periods didn't stop and they continued to be relatively regular afterwards. It took me a total of 6 months to get pregnant but as you'll probably know unlike most contraception your fertility returns the second it's removed. I'd agree with what others say though, give it a couple of months to let your womb get back to normal and don't look at peoples horror stories online!!
