Paternity and Shared Maternity?

Hi there

I am due my first child in September and my husband would like to take the full 2 weeks paternity leave. However, as I will be going back to work after 6 months, he would also like to do shared maternity leave when I go back to work. Is it possible to do this as well as paternity leave?

Thanks! :-)

Hello!
Yes, paternity leave is not affected by the new shared parental leave. Your DH can take his 2 weeks paternity leave then take shared parental at a later date

Oh brilliant! That's a relief! Thank you so much! x

Yep. If you want to take Shared Parental Leave, your Maternity Leave technically ends 2 weeks after the baby is born (after Paternity Leave) and you switch to SPL. Enjoy!
