4 weeks late but tests say not pregnant

I am 36, my husband has had a vasectomy and I've not been unfaithful. My period, which is very regular is now over 4 weeks late and I have a horrible taste in my mouth and feel nauseous. I did a pregnancy test yesterday morning and it was negative. I am very confused to say the least, is there anyone out there who has been though anything like this?

Vasectomy plus negative test, you aren't pregnant. It's not uncommon to miss a period.

Thanks, I know I can't be pregnant and wasn't surprised to see the negative result despite this horrid taste and sicky feeling. I've just never missed a period. Not sure what to do now, do I sit and wait for it to start or do I phone the doctor.

your periods definitely change as you get into your late 30's. mine went from 28 days and reasonably heavy to 35 days and rather light, so much so that i spent a fair bit of time googling, "can scanty periods affect fertility". it might just be hormonal. the doctor would probably tell you that you have to miss a couple of periods before they start looking at it, but it might put your mind at rest to go.

the other thing that can massively affect it is weight - have you gained or lost weight at all?

Thanks for the advice scared My weight hasn't changed so for my own piece of mind I phoned the doctors. I've got to wait 3 weeks then do another pregnancy test and go from there.
