Hi I'm 24 weeks pregnant & today while picking my kids up from school I had stomach pains but not really low down in abdomen & a pain in my left side, its eased now I'm home and sitting down, is this normal?

Did it feel like a 'stitch' you used to get when you were a kid and ran too fast?

cryingbabymess · 29/04/2015 17:45

Rockermummy I get a 'stitch' constantly at the moment!?

Apologies kirstylouise for high jacking!

Yes I was exactly the same when pregnant with DS and going the same way with this pregnancy.
I think its got to do with ligaments loosening and stretching muscles.
Never caused any harm but what a bloody nuisance!
Also managed to give a couple of passing people a bit of a heart attack when I had to stop on the street doubled over in pain! :-)

I was thinking it's from not going to the toilet (tmi - I apologise!!) but thought it could be everything stretching too, I'm having baby #1 so clueless!! I've got the MW in the morning so was going to mention it then.

I get this when I'm walking, particularly in the evening but can happen at any time (also when turning over in bed at night). From what I've read, it is perfectly normal and called round ligament pain (it feels like a stitch and can be on one or both sides). It's the ligaments stretching and having pressure put on them by the growing uterus. Hope that helps Smile

I'm almost 24 weeks and had the same the other day. It went quickly and I think it was ligaments. Baby has a bit of a growth spurt around now I think.
Or it was wind!

Sounds like stitch pain to me xx

willnotbetamed · 30/04/2015 06:48

I get this too (now 26 weeks) - touching my toes helps, so definitely seems to be stitch-related (I'm quite impressed that I remembered the touching toes trick from school cross country running about a hundred years ago). Obviously, I don't actually touch my toes, just waggle my fingers in their general direction, but you get the idea.

Thanks all ?? well I think it definitely sounds like what you are describing so must just be stretching in there lol, I feel massive already dread to think what I'll be like toward the end! Thanks for all the replies xx
