Listeria

It scares the living hell out of me. >_<

I just found out our local grocery store may have gotten some contaminated frozen veggies that were used in one of their pasta salads. Thank goodness I haven't eaten or purchased any of it but once a week I do eat at the little restaurant they have in-store. How likely is it that their other food was contaminated? Because I'm about ready to throw away all the food in my house.

Very unlikely and even so the cooking process would kill the bacteria so don't worry. You'd also have symptoms and therefore know about it if you had listeriosis. (Diarrhoea, fatigue, aches, temps)

How did you discover that? Listeria is quite unusual despite being terrifying

The store put out a recall and I heard about it on the news. There have actually been a lot of listeria contamination scares lately (in the US at least). This is the third or forth one I've seen since I got pregnant but it was the only one that came close to where I live. The last two were from companies that make ice cream. Both companies put out recalls on their products.

Thanks Sbear22. I certainly don't have a temp or diarrhea although fatigue and aches seem to come hand in hand with pregnancy. But that could also be my terribly old mattress. >_>

You're in the U.S. then? I have noticed they seem to recall far more than here in UK - super cautious!
