Hi, I'll be five weeks pregnant on Friday so it's very early days. I've had stomach ache all night and I'm wondering if that's normal? I'm also up every night for the loo and very tired, both of which I thought came later but that started on Saturday. Just want to compare really?

I didn't have stomach ache but the others I did - plus really sore boobs - from the beginning. It sounds normal. Could the stomach ache be constipation? That would be normal too.

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 07:37

I've been to the loo and had some brown discharge almost like what you get at the end of a period. Oh no. :(

Needing a wee constantly was what made me do a test, I was only just under five weeks at that point. Trapped wind can be a lovely symptom, which causes a stomach ache and can sometimes feel similar to mild period pains

applecore0317 · 29/04/2015 07:40

Could be from implantation. Red blood is a worry, brown means its old blood

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 07:41

Would implantation feel crampy? I'm thinking the worst might have happened.

It can do, if you are worried though contact your local early pregnancy unit and they will be able to talk this through with you. Mild cramping isn't uncommon but always worth getting it checked out to put your mind at rest

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 08:05

Thank you. What an awful feeling, I've got everything crossed it's not the worst. :(

I had awful stomach cramps up to 7/8 weeks (it was just stretching and all the changes happening in there) and had the occasional brown discharge/spotting throughout but I'm now 37 weeks today and baby is fine in there. Don't lose hope until you have been seen.

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 08:15

Oh thank you, that's very reassuring. But of a fright but I'll try and relax and wait and see. Thanks again.

I'd get any spotting checked out. Just from experience, and for your own peace of mind. Worrying isn't good for the baby either!

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 08:31

Thank you, I'm too early to have a midwife yet, they're contacting me in 2-3 weeks apparently. I'll call them to see what they say though.

I had mild cramps (not painful, just stretchy type feelings) for the first few weeks, which is apparently normal. If you have pain (especially on one side only) then call your doctor.

I also had spotting from weeks 4-7, mostly pink when I wiped, some brown and on one occasion red when I wiped with a couple of spots on the pad I was wearing. I went to the EPU at 6+4, after referral from my gp (after a phone appointment witj them) and had a scan. All was fine, with a heartbeat. And the spotting stopped a couple of days later. I'm now 13 weeks.

The EPU said if it got heavier, was bright red or I had pain, to come back.

Lots of women get mild cramps and spotting and it's harmless, but it's always best to get it checked out, for peace of mind apart from anything else! Good luck.

Skiptonlass · 29/04/2015 10:16

I've had some quite nasty cramps the whole time, still now at 15 weeks! Mw says its normal... :/

I also had a small bleed (initially red, then pink and brown, lasted about two days) at 8-9 weeks. Again, mw said not to worry unless it gets heavy or severe cramping or pain. She said (and I summarise because we weren't doing this in a language I'm any good in!) that pregnancy is a very dynamic process with lots of new vascular activity, etc and that bleeds are very common. Sometimes it's the end of the pregnancy but mainly it's ok,mand I just had to wait and see... Waiting is hard! Hope it's all ok for you :)

Hey OP,

I'm pretty much same as you, will be 5wks Monday. Last night I had a lot of pulling/pinching sensations and put it down to everything changing. I have zero other symptoms other than increased appetite (thankfully for my waistline I've started getting fuller quicker now though!).

Because of long cycles I'm lucky I get my booking appointment soon (they think I'll be 8wks on Monday) so looking forward to having some reassurances! I've been reading it's so normal to worry in early pregnancy: yes miscarriage is common but the majority of pregnancies are successful Flowers

Congratulations!

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 15:22

Thank you all for reassuring me, the cramps are mild (I usually suffer with bad period pain and it's not on the same scale) and I am only seeing the brown when I wipe (sorry for the info!). It's as though I've mopped up some spilt coffee - so no red yet. I've got my fingers crossed and I've been told I can book an early scan from next Friday for reassurance if this continues.

Thank you again. x

Hi, I'm very similar to you will be 5 weeks on Sunday / Monday (I was 28 days last Sunday, does that mean Monday is my new "pregnancy week" day?!) and I've had stomach discomfort, the mild cramps in my pelvis and lower back (although these seemed worse last week when I must have been implanting) and have had some more sharp pains, but sporadically in both sides rather than just one.

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 19:47

It's a worry isn't it. Every time I've had a wee today the tissues has been a light brown after wiping. I Can't help worrying but others seem to have had the same and it's fine. I hope so. Last night I had the mild period pain feeling with a few sort of pulling sensation feelings. Hoping everything is alright in there and there's nothing to worry about. Particularly because of the brown. Congratulations btw

Sounds very similar to what I had (but I was mostly pink rather than brown on wiping). I did find the early scan reassuring so if it continues I'd definitely get one.

Hobbit19 · 29/04/2015 21:31

I too have had some quite unpleasant cramping (6 weeks today) it is less frequent now but normal I believe. Not too hot hot water bottles and plenty of pillows in bed helped. I also had brown spotting for a week before I tested. Pretty sure it was IB. Everything crossed for you OP but non of it sounds too abnormal from what I know.

ejclementine · 29/04/2015 21:49

Thank you for sharing your stories, it's so reassuring to not feel alone. I'm so glad I came to this forum.

When I was 5 weeks pregnant I had what felt like the worst period pains for about a week. And I really wish someone had told me how tiring early pregnancy is, I was like a zombie! No experience re spotting but everything else happened to me too. Congratulations by the way Smile

Hello I'm 36weeks 2days pregnant with my first baby, saw my midwife a week ago and she told be shes back to back, my bump has dropped loads and her heads engaged, I've started to feel sick and have diarrhea and my discharge has become more thick and white. I get pains every so often.. What does this mean? I see my midwife again tomorrow?

ejclementine · 30/04/2015 18:14

Thanks again everyone, I did a test this morning and it was a very good positive and I've had very minimal brown today. :)
