Bleeding...need advice

Hoping someone can help!

Basically I got my period as normal on 12th April however it still hasn't stopped. I made a doctors appt for last Friday so on Thursday evening decided to do a pregnancy test (just in case the doctor asked, as I had my period didn't think it was a possibility). It was positive and said 2-3 weeks since conception. I did a few and they all said the same.

The doctor didn't do any tests, just referred me to the EPU who basically offered me an appt in 2 weeks time saying there would be nothing they could do before then. So now I am still on my period (if thats what it is) and have to wait for two weeks! Pretty frustrating!

I did another test today and it still said 2 - 3 weeks pregnant (5 days after last test that also said 2-3 weeks).

So...could I be pregnant? Given I had been bleeding (not just spotting) for 2 weeks by the time I did my first test saying 2-3 weeks pregnant it's pretty unlikely this is a viable pregnancy, right? But then if it was an early miscarriage why is the test still saying pregnant 3 weeks after I started bleeding. Any advice / suggestions greatly appreciated!

It's a waiting game, I'm afraid but I lost a twin (had no idea there were 2 rather than 1 in there at the time) in December and bled for 2/3 weeks. The other one is due in August.

Thanks for your reply! I know I need to be patient but it's so hard. Also by the time I go for the appointment I will have had heavy period type bleeding for more than 4 weeks - frustrating that they can't see me earlier. Would love for this to be positive but sadly seems very unlikely.

You could ask for a blood test to see if your hcg levels are rising as expected. Not definitive but will give you more data. Good luck

If you are pregnant it does sound as though you're about 6 weeks as I would expect them to count from last menstrual period, and if you're a 28 dayer normally this would be about 15th March? They can normally detect a heartbeat at 7 weeks pregnant so if you got a scan then you'd have a better idea.
Unfortunately it does sound to me (not medically trained) as though you've had a miscarriage. HCG levels don't immediately drop to zero when you have a mc, they take a while to drop so you'd still show as pregnant on a test for a bit afterwards, and dating tests are often inaccurate. I would be worried about prolonged heavy bleeding though, your GP or EPAU should check that everything is ok.

I only stopped bleeding after 16 weeks. I'm now 39 weeks! An early scan at epu will be able to identify a heartbeat at 7w+ along with the location (if not cause) of the bleeding. Good luck for the result that you're hoping for.

I bled quite heavily in my first pregnancy during the first 3months and he's now a happy, healthy 2yo. It was suspected by the sonographer to be caused by my uterus stretching quickly as it started to swell/stretch/grow.

They won't scan till your far enough along as it needs to get big enough to see. They will probably scan twice as well to check that it is growing also.

Of course it is possible that you could also be experiencing an early mc, but only a scan will confirm either way.

If the ph test says positive, then you are pregnant....I.e.it is not a period.

Hi I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I've been bleeding for 2 days like a light period.. Got to wait until Wednesday for an early scan.. So scared tho.. I've had no cramps just the bleeding.. Anyone else experienced this?

Well after a scan it appears baby is fine.. Blood around the sac but doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.. Got another scan in 2 weeks so fingers crossed
