Confused about dates

Hi,
I had my booking in appointment with midwife today, when working out my EDD I explained i miscarried 20/2/15 and so I had been using this as first day of last period.

The midwife said that it wasn't done like that and actually I was probably further along than I thought, and I am actually 10 weeks rather than 9.

How is this possible if infact there was already a baby there that I was loosing? Obv all will be reviled when we have the dating scan but I am just confused and wondered if anyone could clear it up for me?

Thanks

Midwife is wrong! For the purposes of my pregnancy immediately after a miscarriage, the first day of bleeding for the miscarriage was counted at LMP date for the purposes of giving an EDD.

My dates were changed at the scan by a week later, as I ovulated later due to the miscarriage. But throughout the pregnancy the LMP stayed as the first day of the miscarriage.

Sorry to be blunt, if you are saying the 20th February was the day your miscarriage bleeding started, then ignore the midwife. If the bleeding started before this and your bleeding stopped on the 20th February, then this might explain the midwife's confusion.

Sorry for your loss, but congratulations on your current pregnancy. Wishing you all the best. It is hard dealing with the emotions being pregnant immediately, but it can work out just fine.

What you said is exactly what I thought thank you!

I was very clear telling her that's when my bleeding started, it literally made no sense when I left.

Thanks again
