She asked if I had boys or girls then said it's probably a "... "
her face when I said I hadn't wanted to know was a picture.

Not in UK so she just didn't understand when I told her initially (I thought she had!)
So how likely at this stage is it right?
I dont know what to do at next scan now. My dh wasn't even there :(

Oh bugger, I'm sorry you found out when you didn't want to

I had a private sexing scan at 16 weeks and they said baby was a he, baby did indeed turn out to be a boy so in my case, the early scan was correct

mountainofdreams · 27/04/2015 20:09

Hi Chicken!
I can't relate completely to your situation but I had my first scan last week.
Basically it turned out that I was 16 + 6 on the day of the scan.
I do want to know but didn't think to ask at this scan but dp went straight ahead and asked.
They think it's a girl, dp is taking that as gospel, me not so much but I assume it's probably right.
Sorry she spoilt it for you!

Mama1980 · 27/04/2015 20:11

Sorry you found out when you didn't want to.
Due to complications I had a million scans with both of my pregnancies , both scanners said boy at 16 weeks and they were.

2015isgoingtobeBIG · 27/04/2015 20:18

I was told at 12 and it's been confirmed on every single scan since. Sorry but it's probably as accurate for you now as if you'd found out at the 20 week scan

chickenschicken · 27/04/2015 21:28

Thanks everyone.
I think now we have a "probably" I'd rather have it confirmed at any other scans.

It's a shame she told you, if she said boy id Prob guess she's right, ours was obvious at 16 weeks. Someone I know was told at 16 weeks she was having a girl, didn't get it confirmed at 20 weeks and growth scan at 32 showed a boy so could still be a maybe if she said girl.

ShanghaiDoll · 28/04/2015 05:59

I'm like you and having our baby outside the UK in China and also don't want to know the gender. At the 20 week scan the sonographer said the Chinese for daughter and this also happened again last week at the 31 week scan. Afterwards, they said that the baby looks like Daddy which apparently is the Chinese way of saying it's a boy.

My DH and I have chosen to play ignorant as we still officially don't know. Deep down we know that it's likely to be a girl but it'll only be confirmed when it's born. We do have to keep reminding them at every scan that we don't want to know what we are having and not to tell us.

Also, FWIW, at this stage what could be boy bits could in fact just be swollen girl bits.

I do sympathise as it's really frustrating that they can't keep their mouths shut. I don't know where you are but here they all get a bit excited and their mouths start running away with them. Did she give a percentage of how certain she was?

VixxFace · 28/04/2015 06:36

You was going to find out eventually there are more important things to worry about.
Congratulations

2boys2girls · 28/04/2015 06:42

I know of a few people who were told it was one sex and turned out to be the other so I wouldn't hold it as gospel

Well, that's helpful The4cs. If you've had bad pregnancies start your own thread, don't come spouting your 'blessings' tripe on this one.

Op, the surprise has now been spoiled.....so, embrace knowing the sex. Maybe buy a boy\girl baby item??

Glastokitty · 28/04/2015 07:27

This happened to me. I had to have a CVS due to a dodgy nuchal fold score, and the letter they gave me after said boy on it. I was pissed off for about five minutes, then just glad it looked like my baby was going to be healthy.

Lunastarfish · 28/04/2015 07:34

That's disappointing if you didn't want to know. At my 12 week scan the sonographer said 'she' when referring to the baby. At the 20 week scan I decided to find out and was tolds it was a girl. Mind you im still pregnant so there is still room for error!

chickenschicken · 28/04/2015 18:16

Well it wasn't a vanity scan vixx and 4cs, it's not all I have to worry about but that would be another thread. I'm very glad my baby is healthy and so am I. Just curious as to how accurate it could be.
No percentages as she tried to backtrack saying maybe... maybe not.

At 18+6 I was told by a highly trained twin specialist that my twins (so that's 2 to look at) were boys. I have 11 month old girls. Although fairly accurate I wouldn't be 100% certain they were right. Took me a further 3 scans to believe she'd got it wrong
